How to Fix XDefiant Crashing Issue on PC?

The crashes in XDefiant can occur in different instances, from when you are launching it to crashes in the middle of the game. In most cases, you will find the video drivers on your computer as the culprit. This happens when the drivers are unable to render the game textures properly, due to corruption or old versions.

In addition to the video drivers, there is the element of third-party software in the background which can cause interference with the game files, resulting in a game crash. This behavior is often associated with the implementation of in-game overlays or security software restricting access to the game process.

How to stop XDefiant from crashing?

There are a number of methods you can use to stop the game from crashing since the root cause can vary from case to case. Ubisoft has provided a general list of troubleshooting methods that you can use to resolve any technical problems with the game. However, we will be mentioning proven techniques that should overcome the problem.

  1. Limit In-Game FPS: While this can have a negative sound, limiting your in-game frames can often fix the crashes on your system. By doing this, you are able to reduce the amount of frame drops which can increase the stability of XDefiant; a game that is not yet properly optimized.
  2. Use Windowed Mode: Another potential fix for crashes with XDefiant could be changing your display mode. Switching to windowed mode might help you mitigate any inconsistencies within the game itself. These need to be addressed by the development team, as they result in the game crashing.
  3. Run XDefiant as Administrator: In some instances, the game can crash in your Windows environment when it does not have sufficient permissions to run smoothly. This usually occurs when there are background programs interfering with the game process, causing it to crash. In such an instance, you will need to run the game with administrative privileges to prevent it from crashing.
  4. Install Available Windows Updates: Running an obsolete version of Windows can often cause performance issues with newer games. This transpires when your Windows version does not meet the minimum requirement of the game, in which case you will need to perform a Windows update to resolve the issue.
  5. Update Display Drivers: The display driver in Windows is another factor that can cause XDefiant to crash in various instances. Graphics drivers are usually updated by manufacturers to support newer games that require new functionality and features via an API. Out-of-date drivers can cause a hindrance in this behavior and cause the game to crash. In addition, corruption or damage to the drivers installed in Windows is another instance where the game can crash. To resolve the issue, you will need to reinstall your display drivers
  6. Repair XDefiant Game Files: The game files of XDefiant on your local drive can also lead the game to crash. This occurs when you are missing certain game files on your computer, or the game files are faulty. In this scenario, you will need to repair the game files on your PC to ensure there is no anomaly with the installation files of the game.
  7. Perform a Clean Boot: Lastly, there are various apps running in the background when you are running the game. These third-party apps can intervene with the game process, or even the game files for various reasons. This can include the enforcement of their functionality of features, which can lead to instability and result in a crash. As a remedy, you can perform a clean boot. This will start your PC with only the required services. If the problem goes away in a clean boot, you will have to figure out the culprit program by enabling the third-party services one after the other.
