How to Fix Logitech Headset Appears Inactive in G Hub?
A Logitech headset marked Inactive in G HUB may still play sound, but its settings remain unavailable. G HUB cannot access the headset’s controls normally; this is not necessarily a hardware failure.

A connected USB receiver does not necessarily mean the wireless headset is connected to it. Sound over Bluetooth or a 3.5 mm cable can also work without the connection G HUB needs for configuration.
| What works? | Most useful check |
|---|---|
| Only Bluetooth or 3.5 mm audio | Confirm the supported connection mode. |
| USB/LIGHTSPEED audio and microphone both work | Restart G HUB’s background components. |
| No headset audio device appears in Windows | Check power, receiver, and USB ports. |
1. Check Whether Windows Can Use the Headset
Confirm that your exact model supports G HUB in Logitech Support. Then test its documented USB receiver, adapter, or wired USB connection. A charging cable alone may not connect the headset to Windows.
- Turn on the headset and open Settings > System > Sound.
- Select its Output device and play audio at a comfortable volume.
- Select its Input device and check whether the microphone responds when you speak.

If Windows cannot detect the headset, fix USB power or driver detection before changing G HUB settings.
Working sound and microphone narrow the problem, but do not prove G HUB’s controls are available. If neither device appears, reconnect the hardware before resetting software or profiles.
2. Restart the Headset and Try a Direct USB Port
A headset that stopped responding after sleep may recover after a normal power-off and reconnect. This also checks the USB connection without changing saved settings.
- Quit G HUB from its system-tray icon. Turn the headset off and unplug its receiver or supported USB cable.
- Wait about 10 seconds, reconnect it, and turn the headset on. If its battery is low or it will not power on, charge it according to the model’s instructions before testing.

Restarting the headset and receiver clears a stale wireless or USB session that can leave the device marked Inactive. - Temporarily bypass hubs, docks, monitor ports, and KVM switches. Use a built-in laptop port or a rear motherboard port on a desktop; try another direct port if needed.

A direct USB connection removes hub and dock issues from the G HUB detection chain. - Reopen G HUB and test the headset tile.
If a direct port works reliably, keep using it. Confirm that a hub or receiver is faulty before replacing it.
3. Restart G HUB’s Background Components
Closing the window can leave G HUB running. Restarting its agent and service can restore detection without removing profiles. Let any software or firmware update finish before doing this.
- Quit G HUB, then press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
- End LGHUB Agent / lghub_agent.exe, then the remaining LGHUB / lghub.exe processes. Leave LGHUB Updater running for this restart procedure.

Closing the visible window is not always enough because G HUB device services can stay stuck in the background. - On Task Manager’s Services tab, right-click LGHUBUpdaterService and choose Restart. Wait about 10-15 seconds for Running, then launch G HUB.
Logitech’s service-restart instructions cover this sequence. If the service is missing, try the installer’s Reinstall option. If access is denied, restart Windows instead; ask your administrator on a managed PC.
If the entire app stays on its logo, the G HUB loading-screen checks cover that separate failure.
4. Update G HUB Before Changing Drivers
Device-detection bugs can resemble a disconnected headset. Logitech’s release notes include fixes for duplicate active/inactive device tiles and communication problems between G HUB components.
- Open G HUB’s Settings and check for updates. If updating fails, obtain the installer from the official G HUB download page.
- Install applicable Windows updates, then restart the PC.
- Install firmware only when G HUB identifies your exact headset or receiver and offers an update. Follow its connection and battery instructions without disconnecting hardware or closing G HUB.

Updating G HUB refreshes device profiles and background services used to detect Logitech headsets.
The firmware screenshot shows a mouse as an interface example; it is not a headset update to select. After updating, check whether your headset settings open normally.
5. Use the Connection Your Model Requires for G HUB
Audio through another connection can hide a missing receiver connection. Use your model’s documented PC setup rather than assuming every cable or wireless mode provides the same features.
- For a LIGHTSPEED headset, connect its matching receiver and select LIGHTSPEED using the model’s controls, where applicable. On models supplied with a USB sound card, connect through that adapter for software features.
- Use wired USB only if the model supports it, with a data-capable cable. The G733’s USB-C port is for charging; its receiver is still needed.
- Reopen G HUB and try the headset tile.

Audio can work through Bluetooth or analog while G HUB still needs the supported USB control connection.
Switches and button presses differ by model; the illustrated mode selector is not universal. Logitech’s G735 setup guide, for example, distinguishes LIGHTSPEED, Bluetooth, and auxiliary sources.
6. Enable Disabled Headset Audio Devices
A disabled playback or recording device is worth correcting, particularly when the headset disappeared after an audio-settings change. Working devices do not need different defaults just because G HUB says Inactive.
- Press Windows + R, enter
mmsys.cpl, and press Enter. - On both Playback and Recording, right-click empty space and enable Show Disabled Devices.
- Right-click a disabled Logitech headset or microphone entry and select Enable. Select the headset in Windows Sound settings to test it.

A clean Windows audio selection helps G HUB match the live headset to the correct device record.
Choosing a default output changes where Windows sends sound; it does not guarantee G HUB detection. If audio returns but the tile stays inactive, continue troubleshooting G HUB rather than repeatedly changing defaults.
7. Check the Headset’s Receiver-Pairing Instructions
A powered headset that cannot communicate with its receiver may need re-pairing. Reset buttons and press durations differ, so use the instructions for the exact headset and receiver.
- Find the model on the headset, receiver, or packaging.
- Open that model’s Logitech Support page and look for receiver pairing, reconnection, or reset instructions. Ask Logitech if none are provided.
- Follow only the documented procedure, then check G HUB again.

If another compatible computer is available, test the same headset and receiver there before removing drivers or profiles. Failure on both computers warrants Logitech’s help, though it does not conclusively prove hardware damage.
8. Reinstall Only the Logitech Headset Device
Windows can retain an incomplete or incorrect headset entry after an update. Reinstalling the matched device lets Windows detect it again; this will temporarily interrupt its audio.
- Save your work, quit G HUB, and open Device Manager.
- Expand Sound, video and game controllers and identify the named Logitech headset. If you cannot identify it confidently, stop rather than selecting a different audio device.
- Right-click that device and choose Uninstall device. Leave any driver-package removal checkbox unchecked on this first attempt. Do not remove Realtek, NVIDIA, Bluetooth adapters, or USB controllers.

Re-enumerating the headset rebuilds the Windows device entry that G HUB reads during startup. - Disconnect the receiver or cable, restart Windows, and reconnect it directly. Allow detection to finish, then open G HUB.
If Windows cannot reinstall it, use Logitech’s official software, not a generic driver-download site. Logitech’s device-detection procedure includes a deeper removal option for the correctly identified Logitech device.
9. Test G HUB with Fresh Local Settings
If the headset works in Windows but its G HUB tile stays inactive, test G HUB with default settings before reinstalling it.
- Quit G HUB and end its remaining G HUB processes, including the updater, in Task Manager. Do not interrupt an update.
- Press Windows + R and open
%LOCALAPPDATA%\LGHUB. Copy this folder’s contents to a separate backup folder. - Rename settings.db to settings.db.old, using a different unused backup name if needed.

Renaming settings.db forces G HUB to create a fresh device database without a full reinstall. - Launch G HUB and test before restoring profiles. It should create fresh settings.
To undo an unsuccessful test, close G HUB again and replace its new settings.db with your backed-up original. If fresh settings fix detection, recreate the needed profiles rather than immediately restoring the configuration that may reproduce the issue.
10. Reinstall G HUB if Detection Still Fails
A damaged installation can survive a settings reset. Back up your profiles first, then try the official installer’s Reinstall option if offered. Test the headset before doing a manual cleanup.
- If necessary, quit all G HUB processes and uninstall Logitech G HUB through Settings > Apps. Select the actual Logitech application, not a similarly named entry in the illustration.
- Restart Windows. Rename remaining LGHUB folders in
%LOCALAPPDATA%,%APPDATA%, and%PROGRAMDATA%to an unused backup name such as LGHUB-before-reinstall. Leave unrelated folders alone.
A clean reinstall replaces damaged G HUB files and removes stale local device records. - Restart and install G HUB from Logitech’s official download page. Let setup finish, then test with the receiver or supported USB connection.
If folders remain locked or installation fails, use Logitech’s advanced reinstall instructions or contact support instead of forcing file removal. Test the fresh installation before importing old settings.
To restore your saved settings, quit G HUB, move its newly created data folders aside, and restore the corresponding backup folders to their original names. This restores data, not the previous G HUB software version.
If the Headset Still Shows Inactive
Compare it on another supported computer if you have not already. Working there makes the original PC the better place to investigate; on a work or school PC, ask IT about USB-device or software restrictions rather than disabling security controls.
Contact Logitech with the headset and receiver models, connection type, Windows and G HUB versions, and the comparison results. Provide a serial number only through Logitech’s private support channel, not a public forum.
