How to Fix “Error Code: 0x80072f8f” in Microsoft Store?

  1. Go on the Start window and then on Settings.
  2. Chose the Time & language option from the left side.
  3. Move to the Date & time option and check your times. Set them if they aren’t.
  4. Now close the setting app and Reboot your computer for changes to effect.

2. Update your Windows

Sometimes Microsoft Stores show this error code, because of outdated Windows. You can simply update your Windows and check if it resolved the issue. Here are a few steps to update your Windows

  1. Go on Settings by simply pressing Windows key + X.
  2. Now go on Windows updates.
  3. Check the required Updates and press install now. It will update all possible apps and Microsoft will work efficiently.

3. Use Windows Troubleshooters

We need to troubleshoot the windows because it will allocate the fault in the system. Troubleshooting resolves the issue that is relevant to software and hardware. Furthermore, if you can launch the Microsoft Stores but are not able to install apps/games. Here are the steps to resolve the problem.

  1. Go on Settings by typing on the search bar or simply click Window key+ X and then select settings.
  2. Hence, Choose System from the left side.
  3. So, scroll down on the page and select the Troubleshooter option.
  4. Then, go on the other troubleshooters.
  5. Again, scroll down and go to Windows Store app.
  6. Thus, choose the Run command. It will start to diagnose the issue.


 4. Reset Store using wsreset the app

If you see that still error is occurring, you can use the “wsreset app”. This app helps in resetting Microsoft stores in a friendly way. It is a quick process to launch Microsoft Stores. Here are the following steps you can follow;

  1. Click on the magnifying glass.
  2. Type wsreset on the search bar.
  3. Open wsreset by simply clicking left on it.
  4. So, it will reset the Microsoft Store here
  5. Then hopefully it will launch as it supposes to be.


5. Repair and Reset Microsoft Stores apps

If you are still having the same issue, simply go with repairing or resetting o Microsoft Store apps. Sometimes, we face issues like not downloading the app, but it stops halfway. Moreover, when we try to re-install the app again, it shows an error. At this time, Resetting and Repairing is a good technique.

  2. Select the App from the left side.
  3. Then go to App & features on the right side.

  6.  Now, scroll down on the page. You will find the option reset. (It will help you if the app is not working. Resetting will repair the issue). Here you find two options. 1. Repair and 2. Reset.
  7. If you do not want to lose your app’s data, then you will simply select the Repair option (It will take a few minutes to repair the app).
  8. But, if you are still facing this problem press reset.  Thus, it will delete the whole app’s data permanently.

6.  Repair your Windows using Command Prompt

Command prompt helps in scanning and repairing the window files. Before using the command prompt, it is essential to review the virus protection. It will ensure you that the problem you are facing is not because of the virus. After window defender, Use the Command Prompt app. Type command on it to scan your system.

Follow the procedure to use the command prompt for a quick scan of files.

  1. First, go on the Magnifying Icon down in your system taskbar.
  2. Type Command Prompt
  3. Now, Right Click on the Command Prompt app and chose Run as administrator.
  4. A dialogue box will appear. Type the following codes in sequence on the command prompt.

    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /restorehealth
  5. Hit Enter from your keyboard to begin the system scan. (It will take some time).
  6. After finishing, we recommend closing out of here.  Restart your computer.

7. Try Re-installing the Windows Store using PowerShell

There is another method you can try to sort out the issue. PowerShell is the built-in app of windows. It helps in uninstalling apps, individually. You only need to enter one command.

So, here we will re-install the Microsoft stores by using the “PowerShell app” by using the below code.

  1. Go on the start menu and enter PowerShell in the search bar.
  2. Right-click on the PowerShell app and then click on the Run as administrator.
  3. Then press yes. A new screen will pop up on your screen.
  4. Enter the following code.

5. Press Enter then restart your computer
