Windows Activation Error 0x803fa067 stops users from activating Windows, leaving the system with limited features. This error indicates a failure in license validation, usually due to an invalid or reused product key. Common causes include hardware changes, such as a new motherboard, and mismatches between the Windows edition and the product key.

Disconnect Internet Before Updating

Before you start, disconnect from the internet to stop Windows from checking your product key online during the update.

  1. Right-click on the Network icon on the bottom right of the taskbar.
  2. Click ‘Open Network and Internet settings‘.
  3. Under ‘Change your Network settings‘, double-click ‘Change adapter options‘.
  4. Right-click on Ethernet and click ‘Disable‘.

Activate Windows

  1. Boot up your system.
  2. Press Winkey + I to open the Settings window.
  3. In the search box, type Activation.
  4. Change the product key to the following (default key from Microsoft):
    VK7JG-NPHTM-C97JM-9MPGT-3V66T

  5. Once you’ve entered the key, disable your internet connectivity.

    Thanks for the article! I got this error on a brand new ASUS laptop, which came with Windows 10, but wouldn’t let me upgrade to pro. Something about a “digital license”? bunch of gobbledygook that made no sense to me. This fixed the issue.

        First, enter the code, then disable the wifi and then go for the upgrade

    I tried this but when i clicked the activate button after disabling my internet, it shows error 0x803F7002 saying that there’s no internet connection so activation can’t go through. Any ideas?

    Thank you, THANK YOU! I had a Windows 10 Pro Disk from an ex-computer, and the key was not accepted with Error 0x803fa067. I tried to install from disk but required me to wipe the drive, e.g. not keeping any settings or data. However, disconnecting from the internet worked. Brilliant, I don’t know how you figured that out. Did I remember to thank you? You saved me significant heartache.

    I just followed the steps, disable the network and use the product key i got from Microsoft partner store keyingo, upgrade to pro successfully
