Fix: Instagram Sign Up Error

You may encounter the Instagram sign-up error mainly due to getting blocked by Instagram. Either the IP or the device is blocked due to violation of the Terms and Services. A user will see the following error message:

“Sorry! There’s a problem signing you up right now. Please try again later. We restrict certain content and actions to protect our community. Tell us if you think we made a mistake.”

Before proceeding with more technical solutions, make sure you are trying to create the Instagram account on an authenticated app (not an app like Instagram follower). You may also try using an incognito or in-private mode of the browser if trying to use a web browser.

Now there are two scenarios in this error message: either your account is banned by Instagram, or this is happening because of a technical glitch. If this is occurring because of technical problems, you can follow the solutions listed. If this is not the case, consider contacting them to remove the ban.

Solution 1: Logout of Facebook

The Instagram sign-up issue can occur if you already had an Instagram account with Facebook in the past and that Facebook is signed-in on the device. Here, signing out of Facebook and then creating a new Instagram account may solve the problem.

  1. On your device, log out of Facebook/Messenger.
    Logout of Facebook
  2. Then restart your device.
  3. Now visit the Instagram sign-up page and create a new Instagram account (just remember to use an unconnected email with any social site) to check if the problem is solved.

Solution 2: Use Another Device

If your account was banned due to violating Instagram’s TOS (like posting copyright material etc.)  and you are trying to create a new account in that device, then you may face the error under discussion. In that case, using another device may solve the problem. Do note that you will still be unable to use the banned device for logging on Instagram. You can also use the Windows application for signing up.

  1. Switch to another device (if trying to create an account on a phone, then try to use a PC).
    Change Your Device
  2. Now try to signup for the Instagram account to check if the problem is solved.

If you are trying to create the account using email, then use your phone number (but that number should not be associated with any other account) and vice versa.

Solution 3: Use Another Network

You may encounter the Instagram sign-up error if the IP address currently assigned to your device was used by someone to post spam (especially when you are using mobile data). In that case, switching to another network may solve the problem. If no other network is available, then you can use a VPN/proxy. But as VPNs used by hundreds of thousands of users, you may also encounter the same error. In that case, either using a paid VPN or proxy may solve the problem.

  1. Open a reputable VPN/proxy of your choice.
    VPN
  2. Now try to sign up for an Instagram account.

If you still cannot make an Instagram account, then try to create a new account on a different device on a different network. Another option could be to create a new Facebook ID in incognito mode of a browser on a PC and then use that ID to signup for the Instagram account.
