Remnant II running into the “Out of video memory” error message is a common problem that the developer team is aware of and actively looking to patch it. You can find the various causes of the error message below in this article along with a set of several solutions that can help you get rid of the issue.

What causes the “Out of video memory” error message in Remnant II?

There are numerous causes of the error message in question, let us go through them in detail below.

  • Insufficient Video Memory: The primary cause of the error message is the unavailability of the necessary video memory to render the game textures and shaders. This happens when you are either using high graphics settings on a lower-end graphics card which results in requiring more VRAM than is available, or due to a limit on the VRAM available to the system applied in the BIOS config.
  • Obsolete Video Drivers: The video drivers on your system can be another potential cause of the error message. This can occur when the graphics drivers are out-of-date which prevents them from rendering the game textures properly.
  • Outdated BIOS Firmware: The BIOS firmware on your motherboard can also impact the performance of the game. The error message can occur when the BIOS firmware is limiting the VRAM available, preventing the system from fully utilizing the potential of your graphics card.

Fixes for “Out of video memory” error in Remnant 2

Now that we have gone through the diverse causes of the error message in Remnant II, let us start with the solutions that can help you resolve the issue.

  1. Lower Graphics Settings: The first thing you should do in an attempt to resolve the error message is lower the graphics settings in Remnant II. Lowering the graphics settings will reduce the amount of GPU memory required by the game to render the textures on your PC which can ultimately fix the error message.
  2. Run Remnant II in Compatibility Mode: Running Remnant II in compatibility mode is another fix for the error message in question. This is particularly helpful as it helps in diminishing the optimization issues with the game which causes Remnant II to throw out the video memory error message.
  3. Check Monitor Refresh Rate: Another way you can potentially resolve the error message is to ensure the refresh rate of your monitor is set correctly. Oftentimes, the refresh rate of your monitor can be changed by Windows which can cause an inconsistency with Remnant II.
  4. Update Video Drivers: The video drivers on your PC are important as they are used by the applications to communicate with the graphics card. If the drivers are obsolete or damaged, the communication will be hindered and the game process will not be able to properly utilize your GPU resources. Thus, you will need to update your video drivers to fix the error.
  5. Update BIOS: The firmware on your motherboard is another important aspect of this particular error message. This is because the BIOS manages all of the hardware on your motherboard and its functionality can be influenced with new-gen games, which requires you to update the BIOS
  6. Enable Resizable Bar: rBar or Resizable Bar is a PCIe technology that optimizes how the shaders and textures are sent to the graphics card on your motherboard. Enabling resizable bar can fix the error message as it helps with bigger assets that need to be sent out to the GPU for rendering and compilation.
