How to Play Split-Screen Multiplayer on Halo Infinite
- Halo Infinite, released nearly three years ago, includes multiplayer mode and supports split-screen multiplayer on Xbox consoles.
- Split-screen multiplayer allows up to 4 players on the same device, but this feature is limited to Xbox Series X/S for 4 players and Xbox One/One X for 2 players.
- To play split-screen multiplayer on Halo Infinite, players need at least two controllers, two Xbox accounts, and follow a few steps to connect and start a game.
Halo Infinite does support split-screen multiplayer. However, split-screen multiplayer is only available to players on Xbox consoles (sorry, PC users). There are a few things to keep in mind when trying out split-screen multiplayer on Halo Infinite:
- The Halo Infinite campaign does not support split-screen co-op.
- Players on the Xbox One/One X are limited to 2 players only.
- Players on the Xbox Series X/S can support up to 4 players.
- The Big Team Battle Mode allows up to only 2 players in split-screen multiplayer, irrespective of the console being used.
How to Play Split-Screen Multiplayer on Halo Infinite
First, ensure you have at least 2 controllers and 2 Xbox accounts logged on to your Xbox console (guest accounts cannot be used here). Let’s dive into what you need to do to start playing split-screen multiplayer on Halo Infinite:
- Log in to your Xbox account.
- Start up Halo Infinite.
- Next, switch on your second controller and hold down the button with the 3 horizontal lines on it.
- The following menu should appear. Select the second Xbox account logged into your console.
- You will see that 2 players are connected successfully from the bottom-right corner of the Halo Infinite home screen. Repeat this process if you’re on the Series X/S and want to play with 3 or 4-player split-screen co-op.
- Now, go for a test run in a Custom Match or jump right into the action by selecting Multiplayer from the home screen.

While 343 Industries, the team behind Halo 5 and Halo Infinite, have yet to recapture the magic of the original franchise, Infinite’s multiplayer is still the diamond in the rough. At any rate, invite some friends over and relive the good old days with Infinite’s action-packed gameplay and split-screen capabilities.
