Apex Legends (Party Leader Quit, Party Not Ready): 10 Fixes
Apex Legends players experience a bug that states “Party Leader Quit” or “Party Not Ready” while queuing up or playing a match. This bug has been plaguing the game since launch and is still not fixed.
This error may show up randomly on your screen and can leave you confused because the party leader is usually present in the lobby. Due to this, the players are unable to start matchmaking or get removed from an ongoing game.
There could be some reasons for this message showing up, like you being AFK for more than a few minutes or if the lobby has been bugged. However, it mostly occurs when a player in your lobby is not updated to the latest patch of Apex Legends or when your game has a pending update available.
You can do a few things right away to try and resolve this issue like restarting the game or clearing the cache on the platform where you’re playing Apex Legends.
Below, I’ll present 10 methods to get rid of this error and start playing the game peacefully.
1. Try Restarting the Game
This is the easiest and simplest way to get rid of the error. Before going for the more complicated solutions, try shutting off the game or the system and restarting them again.
Simply close the game and launch it again after 5 minutes. If the Party Leader Quit bug still shows up, try restarting the computer and see if it’s gone now.
If not, move on to the other methods.
2. Check for Game Updates
Check if there are any new updates available in the game. The error message can sometimes occur due to some of the team members playing with older or backdated versions of the game.
To make sure that this isn’t you, keep your game up-to-date. You can turn on the auto-updates to ensure this issue doesn’t bother you in the future.
Also, playing on the same server can stop this error notification.
3. Disable the Origin In-Game Option
While the Origin in-game feature allows you to chat with friends and do a Twitch stream, it can be the reason for the Party Leader Quit bug in Apex Legends. So you should disable it if you don’t use it for streaming.
Here’s how you can do this:
- Open up Origin and enter your login details.
- Go to the left vertical panel and select My Game Library.
- Now right-click on Settings (gear icon) and click on Game Properties.
- Untick the Enable Origin In Game for Apex Legends option.
- Click on Save.
- Now you can relaunch the game.
4. Create a New Party
This error can also occur due to a glitch present in the lobby itself. The glitch can either be on your end or your friends’.
But you can still play the game by following the steps below.
If you’re in someone else’s lobby:
- Leave the lobby.
- Rejoin the lobby.
If the problem persists, do this:
- Exit the party.
- Create a new party.
- Send invites to your friends.
- Start matchmaking again after they join.
5. Switch Games Modes
You can also counter this glitch by changing your game mode for a little while. If the error is due to some bug, it will be fixed by this method.
Considering you’re in the Play Apex lobby, do this:
- Leave Play Apex.
- Go to Training.
- Join Play Apex again
6. Change Party Leader
If the error occurs when a certain player is the leader of the lobby, then try to change the leader and see if this removes the bug.
This method won’t work if you’re solo-queuing. So instead of this, go to the main menu and start matchmaking again.
7. Join the Same Server
If the issue persists, go to the start screen of the game and make sure that you and your friends are on the same server. Unfortunately, being on different servers that are not closely related is another reason for this error.
Once all four of you join the same server, start matchmaking and the error won’t show up.
8. Reinstall the Game
If none of the methods work, reinstalling the game will eventually get rid of the Party Leader Quit error. Simply go to the Control Panel > Programs & Features. Select Uninstall a program and remove Apex Legends.
Afterward, install the game from Origin, EA, or Steam. It will take a little longer but the error will be removed after that.
9. Clear Alternate MAC Address (Xbox)
Clearing alternate MAC will help in starting a fresh network connection on your Xbox and countering the ‘Party Leader Quit’ bug in Apex.
After clearing the MAC address, you would have to set up the internet connection again.
Here’s how to do that:
- Press the Xbox button on the controller and select Settings.
- Go to Network settings.
- Select Advanced settings.
- Select Alternate MAC address.
- Click on Clear.
10. Reset Windows Network Settings
Connection issues in Windows are a major reason why some firmware, software, or applications fail to install or upgrade. Therefore, wrong network settings can possibly be the reason why the K100 update is failing.
I suggest resetting the network settings altogether and then connecting to your WiFi again.
Here’s how to do that:
- Go to Start > Settings.
- Navigate to Network & Internet.
- Select Status > Network Reset.
- Click on Reset now and select Yes for confirmation.
- Wait until your PC restarts.
- Now connect to your network again and try updating the firmware.
