How to Fix Zoom Unable to Install Error Code 10002

When users attempt to install updates in the Zoom client, they encounter an error, and the installation process fails, showing the ‘Error code:10002’. This error indicates issues with the current installation process and the update cannot be installed. The main cause of this error is issues with the source of the installer file.

Additionally, insufficient privileges given to Zoom and conflicts with the antivirus software can also cause interruptions during the installation process.

In this article, we will discuss different solutions to solve this issue.

1. Run as Administrator

This issue might be caused due to insufficient privileges provided to Zoom. Running the program as an administrator will allow the program to access all the necessary administrator privileges, which might help solve this problem.

  1. Search for ‘Zoom’ in the Search bar and run it as Administrator.
  2. In the confirmation popup, press Yes.

2. Check For Windows Updates

This issue might be caused by an outdated version of Windows. An outdated version of Windows does not support the latest version of programs, which can cause issues while installing Zoom updates. Check for Windows updates and update Windows to the latest version to ensure your system is up-to-date and can run the latest programs.

  1. Search for ‘Check for Updates‘ in the Search box and open it.
  2. Click on ‘Check for Updates‘.
  3. If there are any updates available, download and install them.

3. Disable Antivirus

It might be possible that the antivirus is conflicting with Zoom’s update installation process, causing errors and stopping the installation process. You can disable the antivirus software to ensure it is not interfering with any program.

To disable antivirus, you can check our detailed article here.

4. Clear Zoom Cache

Zoom stores temporary cache data to ensure better performance. Sometimes, if the cache data is corrupted, it can cause disruption in the installation process and stop it. Deleting the cache data folder will remove all the corrupted files and create new ones.

  1. Press Windows + R, type the following, and hit Enter. (Make sure to replace ‘Username’ with the name of your user profile)
    C:/Users/Username/AppData/Roaming/Zoom

  2. Click on the Data folder and click on the Delete icon.
  3. Try updating Zoom now.

5. Reinstall Zoom

If none of the solutions work, you can reinstall the Zoom app. This will delete all the installed Zoom files and install a new updated version of Zoom.

  1. Press Windows + I to open Settings.
  2. Go to Apps.
  3. Find and select the Zoom application.
  4. Click on Uninstall.
  5. Click on Uninstall again.
  6. Once it’s uninstalled, go to Zoom’s official website here.
  7. Download and install the Zoom application.
