Xiaomi Might Not Release A Xiaomi 13S in The 13 Series Lineup

Next week at MWC, Xiaomi will unveil the Xiaomi 13 series to the world, including the Xiaomi 13 Lite in addition to the Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro. Though that appears to be where Xiaomi’s attention is currently being directed, we now know that the company is also working on other high-end handsets.

According to leaker Digital Chat Station, there may not be a Xiaomi 13S series this year. In August of last year, Xiaomi released the Xiaomi 12S series to update the regular Xiaomi 12 lineup with the much-improved Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 and to introduce the Xiaomi 12S Ultra with the much-anticipated type 1-inch camera sensor. It looks like this year is going to be different, though.

If rumors are to be believed, the Xiaomi 13, and not the Xiaomi 13S, will be the company’s “Ultra” phone this year. The launch of the device is expected to take place simultaneously in many countries, possibly in April or May. Even less likely is a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2, given that the current generation’s Snapdragon 8 does such a great job. As a result, there is probably not much of a need for Xiaomi to release a new flagship series called the Xiaomi 13S.

The Xiaomi 13T

A global release of the Xiaomi 13T series is expected for later in the year. It has been speculated that one of the Xiaomi 13T phones will be a rebranded Redmi K60 Extreme Edition. Xiaomi’s Redmi K60 Extreme Edition, or Redmi K60 Ultra as it is more commonly known, will only be available in China, but it will eventually make its way to Europe as the Xiaomi 13T. For instance, the Redmi K50 Extreme Edition was rebranded as the Xiaomi 12T Pro last year, though rather with a change from a 108 MP to a 200 MP camera.
