How to Get Wuthering Waves Running When It Won’t Launch?

When Wuthering Waves fails to launch, it typically indicates there is an issue with the game files preventing it from starting. This often happens when launching the game through the Epic Games launcher library. When this occurs, no window appears on the screen. However, you might see the active process of Wuthering Waves running in the task manager.

If you are facing the same situation described above, the following methods will help fix the issue.

1. Use launcher.exe to Launch the Game

It has been observed that the issue can be fixed by launching the game through launcher.exe, located in the game’s installation directory, instead of launcher_epic.exe. This indicates that it is a short-term bug that will be fixed by the developer soon. Until the issue is resolved, it will be helpful to launch the game through launcher.exe rather than waiting for the issue to be fixed.

  1. Go to the Wuthering Waves (WUWA) installation directory.
  2. Launch the game by double-clicking the launcher.exe from the files.
  3. If you are able to launch the game, it is advised to create a shortcut for the launcher.exe or simply drag it to your taskbar. This will allow you to launch the game until the issue is fixed, and you can launch the game from the Epic Games Library.

2. Verify the Game Files

If the above solution does not help, there might be corrupted files in the game’s installation directory preventing the game from launching. In this case, you can try verifying the game files to fix the corruption.

  1. Open the Epic Games Store launcher on your PC and navigate to Library.
  2. Click the three dots and select Manage.
  3. Then, click Verify to start validating the game files.

3. Configure the Compatibility Settings

In the vast majority of cases, configuring the compatibility settings correctly often resolves the issue of not launching. Compatibility settings include running the program as an administrator, disabling full-screen optimizations, and running the program in an older version of Windows, among others.

By configuring these settings, you might be able to launch the game without any issues.

If you have a shortcut created for Wuthering Waves, simply right-click on it and go to Properties. Otherwise, go to the game’s installation directory and right-click the Wuthering Waves executable file to open its Properties.

  1. From here, go to the Compatibility tab and tick the following options:
  2. Disable fullscreen optimizations.
  3. Run this program as an administrator.
  4. Additionally, you can check Run this program in compatibility mode for and select a different version of Windows.
  5. Once done, click Apply and click OK to save the settings.
  6. Now, see if you can launch Wuthering Waves.

If none of the solutions helped resolve the issue, the last solution you can try is to properly reinstall the game. By performing a reinstallation, all the corrupted files will be restored, which might resolve this issue.
