Tekken 8 Rated for Ages 15 and Above in Korea
The final major Tekken 7 EVO tournament took place last month, but Bandai Namco has still not released any information about the release date of Tekken 8, the next installment in the series.
Earlier this week, on August 11th, the Game Rating and Administration Committee of Korea had rated the PC version of Tekken 8 for ages 15 and above. The listing showed nothing out of the ordinary, with the applicant being Bandai Namco, and the genre “Fighting Games.”
As far as the reasons for giving a 15+ rating is concerned, well, the game features limited violence.
Therefore, in accordance with Article 21 of the Game Industry Promotion Act and Article 7 Subparagraph 3 of the Rating Regulations, the game was determined suitable for 15 year olds and above.
The rating, in no way lists when the game is expected to release, but if we look at previous trends, well, Tekken 7 was released four months after it was rated, however Bandai Namco has stated that this game would be released in 2024, before the start of next fiscal year, which puts the release date somewhere near February or March.
As far as the roster is concerned, we may expect to see more announcements in the future, but at the EVO, we got our first look at the new character Azucena, and the returning Raven.
Now, we have eighteen confirmed characters, including Jin Kazama, Kazuya Mishima, Paul Phoenix, Marshall Law, Nina Williams, Jack-8, King, Lars Alexandersson, Jun Kazama, Ling Xiaoyu, Asuka Kazama, Leroy Smith, Lili, Bryan Fury, Hwoarang, and Claudio Sefarino.
We can expect to hear more from Bandai Namco in the future, but this is all we know for now, rest assured that we will keep you updated as new information becomes available.
