How to Fix ‘SKYUI ERROR CODE 5’ in Skyrim?

If you are getting error code 5 while using the Skyui mod in Skyrim, it indicates there is a conflict between the mods, overwriting the SWF (Shockwave Flash) file, resulting in the error message.

The SWF files are used by the SkyUI mod to display elements such as the map menu, favorites menu, inventory menu, and others. When one of these files gets overwritten by any other mod, it displays the error code 5 with the message  “Incompatible menu file (file name) Please make sure you installed everything correctly, and no other mod has overwritten this file.”.

1. Disable SWFs files of the SKY UI mod

As the error itself says, no other mod has overwritten this file, which means there is a high chance that the SWF file gets overwritten, causing this error. In this case, you can try disabling the SWF elements to check whether the file gets overwritten or not. To do so, simply follow the steps:

  1. Press the ESC key and go to System.
  2. Then, go to Mod Configuration.
  3. Select SKY UI from the left pane. Then, go to Advanced, and uncheck the elements under SWF Version Checking.
  4. Once done, now see if the error is fixed or not.

2. Reinstall the mod

This error could also be a result of the incorrect installation of the SkyUI mod. To ensure that, your next step should be reinstalling the mod.

  1. To reinstall the mod, simply open the mod manager.
  2. Remove the SkyUI mod.
  3. Once done, install the SkyUI mod again.
  4. Then, launch Skyrim and check for the error.

3. Delete the SWF file

You may have a corrupted SWF file, resulting in this error. In this case, you can try deleting the corrupted SWF file. You will find the name of the SWF file in the error message.

To delete the SWF file, open the game’s directory, go to the data interface folder, and delete the SWF file. Make sure to back up the file before deleting it.

None of the fixes worked?

If none of these solutions fixed the error code 5, then you should refer to the mod’s forum (here) & create a new thread along with the error you are facing to get your issue resolved.
