Rockstar Hints at a GTA 6 Release Date for 2024

The wait for Grand Theft Auto 6 may finally be closing in, as Take-Two Interactive, the publisher behind the iconic franchise, has now dropped a major hint about the future and release of the game.

With all eyes on the future of the most anticipated title of all time, Take-Two has hinted that GTA 6 might release as soon as 2024-25.

Take-Two Interactive has recently shared their yearly earnings report, where the company is expecting a substantial growth in fiscal years 2025 and 2026. What else could it be, if not GTA?

However, it’s worth noting that the fiscal year 2025 is expected to commence in April of 2024, giving us a clue as to when we might expect the release for GTA 6. The release states:

Looking ahead, Fiscal 2025 is a highly anticipated year for our Company. For the last several years, we have been preparing our business to release an incredibly robust pipeline of projects that we believe will take our company to even greater levels of success.

In Fiscal 2025, we expect to enter this new era by launching several groundbreaking titles that we believe will set new standards in our industry and enable us to achieve over $8 billion in Net Bookings and over $1 billion in Adjusted Unrestricted Operating Cash Flow. We expect to sustain this momentum by delivering even higher levels of operating results in Fiscal 2026 and beyond.

Although Take-Two would never specifically mention GTA, it’s hard to imagine any other franchise doing this kind of work for them. The game’s popularity and potential for generating “big money” make it a prime candidate to achieve the kind of financial success Take-Two is projecting for the coming years.

For the sake of explanation, let’s put it this way: Take-Two’s net bookings for the past fiscal year reached a record annual high of $5.3 billion, thanks in part to the acquisition of Zynga. Before this, Take-Two’s regular annual net bookings were around $3 billion.

According to some sources, for Take-Two to achieve a goal of $8 billion in net bookings, the company would need to make significant acquisitions or release nearly double the amount of games it historically has, or release at least one absolute behemoth of a game, and only a franchise like Grand Theft Auto has the potential to do so.

While all this points towards a probable release next year, it is important to take this news with a grain of salt, as nothing has been confirmed yet. Other than that, we will make sure to keep you updated as new information becomes available.
