Mortal Kombat 1 Announced, Launching September 2023

Warner Bros. Games and NetherRealm Studios have officially announced the next Mortal Kombat game, titled Mortal Kombat 1. This installment will take the series back in time and is set to release on September 19.

Take a look at the announcement trailer down below:

The first trailer gives us a look at a lot of familiar faces such as Shang Tsung, Liu Kang, Raiden, Scorpion, Kitana, Mileena, and Sub-Zero, although with a rather fresh new look as the game is set in the early history of the Mortal Kombat universe.

Mortal Kombat 1 seems to offer reimagined versions of iconic characters we knew for decades. It also introduces a new fighting system, game modes, and the series’ signature fatalities. A unique feature called Kameo Fighters will also be available, providing players with a roster of partners to assist in battles.

Pre-orders for the game will open on May 19th, with three editions available: Standard, Premium, and Kollector’s Edition. All pre-orders will grant you access to the beta in August 2023 and the character Shang Tsung.

The Premium Edition includes early access to additional characters, a Johnny Cage skin resembling Jean-Claude Van Damme, and other bonuses. The Kollector’s Edition, available only at select retailers, offers even more exclusive items, including a Liu Kang sculpture and extra in-game currency.

Mortal Kombat 1 is set to release on September 19th for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PC, and Xbox Series X. Let us know your thoughts on the game, and how it brings back memories. Till then, we will make sure to keep you updated on all new developments as new information becomes available.
