John Wick Franchise Expands to the Gaming World with AAA Video Game

After a huge success in the film industry, John Wick is finally making it’s way into the gaming world.

Motion Picture Group Chairman, Joe Drake, has announced that the popular John Wick franchise is making its way into the world of AAA video games, however nothing has been said about the timeline or the plot of the game.

Along with this information, it has been reported that preparations are being made for an unannounced fifth installment in the series. No additional details were given here too. Here’s what Joe had to say about the future of the franchise at Lionsgate’s Q4 2023 earnings call.

We’re now moving across that franchise, not just in the AAA video game space, but looking at what the regular cadence of spin-offs, television really growing that universe so that there is a steady cadence of a franchise that there’s clear appetite by the audience.

What is official is that, as you know, Ballerina is the first spinoff that comes out next year. We’re in development on three others, including John Wick 5 and including television series, The Continental, will be airing soon. And so, we’re building out the world and when that five movie comes, will be organic, will be organically grown out of how we’re starting to tell those stories. But you can rely on a regular cadence of John Wick.”

In regards to the John Wick video game, Drake stated that Lionsgate is “continuing to have those conversations.” According to him, there’s a lot of excitement about the possibility of creating a John Wick video game.

Lionsgate had declared in November that it has received offers for a “big AAA game” based on John Wick, and now we have official confirmation.
