How to Install and Update the LG Monitor Drivers?

If you have an LG monitor, then it’s necessary to install its driver to take full advantage of all the features. Monitor drivers help display the visuals and graphics much better by connecting with Windows.

Windows automatically installs drivers for plug-and-play monitors, but they aren’t always the best. Secondly, they can be outdated, which doesn’t make them ideal.

Keeping this in mind, you should install your LG monitor’s driver manually from their website. Moreover, when an update drops, you can upgrade your driver in a few simple steps.

Below, I’ll list down the steps to both install and update the driver from LG’s website. You don’t need to have any technical knowledge to carry out these steps, as they are straightforward.

How do I Install the LG Monitor Driver?

LG provides driver support for a handful of monitors, but not for all of them. There will be a list of “Monitor Types” including four categories of monitors for which drivers are available. If your monitor isn’t there, the Generic PnP driver provided by Windows is enough for full functionality.

Now follow the steps below to install the driver.

  1. Head over to LG’s website.
  2. Click on Support.
  3. Select Software & Drivers under Product Information.

  1. Scroll down and click on See More under Windows Monitor Drivers.

  1. Here you’ll see the monitor types for which drivers are supported.

  1. If you have one of these monitors, then download the driver’s zip file.
  2. Extract the file once it downloads.
  3. Run the .exe file and install the driver.
  4. Restart your PC after the installation.

You can now see your driver by going to Device Manager > Monitors.

How do I Update the LG Monitor Driver?

Updating monitor drivers can improve the image quality, remove any bugs or glitches if they were there, and enhance the overall system performance. In short, it is always good to keep every driver up-to-date, including your monitor. There are two ways to update the driver: automatically and manually.

I’ll list the steps for both of them.

Automatic Driver Update

This is the easiest and fastest way to install a driver update. Windows will find the update automatically for you and all you will have to do is simply install it.

Here’s how to do that:

  1. Open Run with Win + R.
  2. Type devmgmt.msc and hit Enter.

  1. Double-click on monitors to see your monitor driver.
  2. Right-click on it and select Update driver.

  1. Select the Search Automatically option.

  1. Windows will start searching for a new update.
  2. If found, you can click on Install to install it.
  3. Once done, restart the computer.

Manual Driver Update

Before manually updating the driver, you need to know the current version of your driver and your monitor’s model as you’ll only have to download the driver for it.

First, note the monitor model number:

  1. Right-click anywhere on your desktop.
  2. Select Display Settings.

  1. Scroll down and select Advanced display settings.

  1. Note the model number.

Now, check your driver’s version:

  1. Go to Device Manager > Monitors.
  2. Right-click on the driver and select Properties.

  1. Go to the Driver tab and note the current version.

Next, follow the steps below to update the driver manually.

  1. Head over to the Software & Driver section on LG’s website.
  2. Enter your monitor’s model and see if a new driver version has dropped.
  3. If yes, download and extract the zip file.

  1. Now go to Device Manager > Monitors > Update driver.

  1. Select the Browse my computer option.

  1. Select Let me pick…on my computer.

  1. Click on Have DIsk and browse for the folder with the extracted update file.

  1. Click Next, and installation will start.
  2. Finally, restart your computer, and the driver will be updated.

That’s it! You should now be able to use all of your monitor’s features properly. Now that your driver is installed, you can also apply an original color profile to further enhance your monitor experience.

In case you’re having problems installing or updating LG monitor drivers or can’t find your model, go to the LG Contact Us page, explain the issue to them, and follow the instructions they give.
