Huawei Watch 4 Launch Imminent, Three Models Expected
The Huawei Watch 4 and Watch 4 Pro have been spotted in a recent Wi-Fi Alliance certification. This confirmation comes after weeks of rumors and speculation regarding the Chinese tech giant’s next-generation smartwatches.
The certification reveals that the Watch 4 will be available in at least three models, including a Watch 4 Pro variant. However, it remains uncertain whether the satellite communication feature rumored to be present in a new Huawei smartwatch will be included in the Watch 4.
According to teaser images circulating online, Huawei is planning a major launch event on March 23. Speculation suggests that this event will showcase the brand’s highly anticipated next-generation smartwatch.
The certification further confirms that the Huawei Watch 4 supports Wi-Fi 4 (802.11n) and only 2.4 GHz networks, which is in line with most smartwatches on the market. The Watch 4 will not use more modern WLAN standards or support faster 5 GHz and 6 GHz networks.
Nevertheless, the smartwatch will support WPA2 and WPA3, making it compatible with most home networks. The Watch 4 will also be operated with HarmonyOS, which is Huawei’s internally developed operating system that’s already in use in the Huawei Watch 3.
While there’s little concrete information about the Watch 4’s new features and innovations, Huawei enthusiasts and tech enthusiasts are eager to get their hands on the next-generation smartwatch.
The Watch 4 is expected to compete with the likes of the Apple Watch Series 8 and the Samsung Galaxy Watch5.
It’s worth noting that Huawei is facing challenges due to the ongoing US-China trade war and a ban on US companies doing business with the Chinese tech giant. These challenges could impact the Watch 4’s availability in certain markets, but Huawei remains optimistic about its future prospects.
