For comparison, some of the most successful first-party PlayStation games are listed below with their sales within a specific period.

  1. God of War Ragnarök – 5.1 million in 5 Days
  2. The Last of Us Part II – 4 million in 3 Days
  3. Spider-Man – 3.3 million in 3 Days
  4. God of War (2018) – 3.1 million in 3 Days

This new sales record of the God of War Ragnarök makes it the best-selling God of War game, shattering all the previous records of the games in the franchise. Not only has it claimed the throne of the best God of War game in terms of sales, but it has also become the fastest-selling first-party PlayStation game.

Yes, you have read that right; God of War Ragnarök has become the fastest-selling AAA PlayStation exclusive. And it is just the beginning as the sales will most likely increase from this point due to the holiday season ahead. Other than that, God of War 2018 director and God of War Ragnarök producer Cory Barlog has just recently teased the next part in the God of War franchise claiming that the ending of the God of War Ragnarök was intentionally like the way it was to set up the upcoming games.

In addition, Cory Barlog has also hinted that Santa Monica Studio, the developer studio behind the God of War Ragnarök, is now working on multiple new projects. Still, he didn’t completely reveal that they are connected to the God of War franchise. Only time can tell what else the studio has in store for the franchise fans and how it will continue to grow without the amazing story of Kratos and Atreus.

God of War Ragnarök is now available for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. So, what are your thoughts about this? Have you played the game yet? Let us know in the comment section below.
