Fix: Playstation Error CE-35694-7

Some PlayStation users are unable to start or install certain games or application by the Error CE-35694-7. Typically, the error code is accompanied by the error message “An error has occured”.

As you can see, the error is very vague and doesn’t tell us the source of the problem. So what triggers it?

What causes the Error CE-35694-7

The Error CE-35694-7 is a shortcode for letting you know that you don’t have enough space on your hard drive for the download an installation of the game.

PS4 usually dismiss this scenario after they see that they have more free space that the game requires. However, Sony recently enforced a rule where you need double the amount of space than the game you are trying to install.

So if you’re currently seeing the Error CE-35694-7 when trying to launch or install a game that you recently brought, you’re in for some cleaning.

To make sure that you are all equipped to fix the Error CE-35694-7 on your console, we decided to feature a couple of step by step methods that will help you clear the necessary space on your PS4.

Depending on how much space you need, using Method 1 is typically enough to circumvent the error code.

Method 1: Deleting Games and other stuff that you no longer need

This is by far the most popular fix for the Error CE-35694-7. Even if you have a vanilla PS4 console with only 500 GB, I doubt all of that space is used to store games that you currently play.

Maybe you still have a game installed that you recently traded or maybe you got bored or some games and you’re certain you’ll never play them again. Keep in mind that even if you delete the games via the procedure below, you can still re-download them from the Library section or copy them back from a physical disk.

Follow the steps below to access System Storage Management and clear the necessary space in order to run the application without the Error CE-35694-7:

1. From the home screen, press up with your left thumbstick to access the dashboard. Then, select the Settings icon and press X to open it.

   

2. In the Settings menu, scroll down to select System Storage Management, then press the X button again.

   

3. From the System Storage Management Screen, go to Applications and press the X button again.

   

4. Now, press the Options button, choose Delete, then proceed to select every application that you are prepared to get rid of.

   

5. Once you select every game that you want to delete, press the Delete button.

   

6. If the cleared space is not enough or you are fond of all your games, you can clear the needed space by removing Capture Gallery data or Themes data. The process is identical.

   

7. Start the application that was previously showing the Error CE-35694-7 and see if the error code is solved.

Method 2: Force a System Storage status check

If you made sure that you have enough system storage space (double the game size) but the application is still displaying the Error CE-35694-7 error, you might be dealing with a known PS4 glitch where the system is confused on the amount of storage space available. This typically happens if you connect an external storage hard drive.

Luckily, several users have discovered a fix for this particular issue. Apparently, if you force a System Storage status check during the boot process the system should be able to fix the error by itself. Here’s a quick guide on how to do this:

1. Plug in your DualShock 4 controller into your PS4 system via a physical cable. Then, turn your system on.

   

2. Next, press the power button for a couple of seconds until you hear a short beep and see the LED light flashing. Release the power button and wait for it to power down completely.

   

3. Once the PS4 is turned off, press The Power button + Eject button together until you see the screen turning on.

   

4. Your PlayStation will shortly enter into a System Storage Status check procedure. Once that is complete, your PS4 will restart.

   

5. Once it boots back up, open the application again and see if you’re still encountering the Error CE-35694-7.

Method 3: Rebuilding the PS4 database

If the first two methods have proven to be ineffective in resolving the Error CE-35694-7 for your particular scenario, you’re only chance by now is to initialize your pS4 machine.

A initialization is the console equivalent of a factory reset. It will rebuild your console database, but it also means that you will lose any saved files and games that are currently installed on the system. Fortunately, this fix is confirmed to work for a lot of users.

Before we begin the process of rebuilding your PS4 database, it’s important to make sure that you store your game saves on the cloud on an external USB stick. Once you do so, follow the steps below to rebuild your PS4 database:

1. On your dashboard, access your Settings menu by using ribbon menu at the top.

   

2. In the Settings menu, navigate downwards to Initialization and press the X button.

   

3. From the Initialization menu, go to Initialize PS4.
   

   

4. Next, select Full and press the X button to commence the initialization. Keep in mind that this process can take several hours, during which you should not turn off your console.

   

5. After the process is complete, install the game again. You should no longer encounter the Error CE-35694-7.
