How to Fix Discord Keeps Crashing Issue in Windows?
Discord allows users to communicate with friends and other people. The main use of Discord is during the games so a seamless connection is essential for the complete gaming experience especially when it comes to multiplayer games. However, for the majority of users, the Discord app is crashing unexpectedly. You won’t see an error message when the app will crash. The app will just crash or restart without any warning. For some users, the app crashes randomly while others are experiencing the issue at a particular time e.g. at startup, during gaming, etc. As you can imagine, getting to the root of the problem can be really hard because of the lack of warning or error message.
What causes the Discord app to crash?
There are a couple of things that can cause this issue. They are listed below
- Discord Update: A big chunk of the users started experiencing the issue after a Discord update. It is pretty common to see bugs introduced by an update so this can be one of those bugs. One of these bugs can be related to the audio/video modules of the app. This is highly likely if the issue is caused during voice/video communication.
- Corrupt files: It’s not uncommon for files to get corrupt. Corrupted files can cause a program to misbehave and this might be one of those cases. The files in the AppData folder can cause this issue and clearing that folder along with some other files will fix the issue if it’s caused by that.
Method 1: Turn on Legacy Mode
Turning on the legacy mode has fixed the issue for a considerable number of Discord users. This mode can be turned on via the Discord app settings. - Click Okay if the app asks you to confirm the action
Once done, the problem should go away.
Method 2: Delete AppData Discord Contents
