Discord Grey Screen on Startup? Here’s What to Do

Press CTRL + R to restart Discord whenever you encounter the grey screen. This shortcut refreshes Discord’s interface and can clear out temporary UI glitches. It is one of the most effective solutions, but it may not work in all cases, especially if the issue is caused by corrupted files or deeper rendering issues.

1. End All Processes Related to Discord

Sometimes, Discord processes continue running in the background after you close the app. If some of Discord’s processes are stuck or conflicting with new instances, Discord may freeze or display a grey screen. Therefore, ensure all Discord processes are closed and then check if the issue is resolved.

1. Right-click on the taskbar and select Task Manager to open it.
2. In the Processes tab, look for any running Discord.exe processes.
3. Right-click on Discord and select End Task.
4. Close Task Manager and relaunch Discord to check if the issue is resolved.

1. Press the Win key + R simultaneously to open the Run dialog box.
2. Type %appdata%\Discord and click OK.
3. Select all the files in the folder and Delete them.
