How to Fix Epic Games Error Code EU-FA-3

The error code EU-FA-3 in the Epic Games Launcher usually appears when the client fails to connect to Epic’s authentication servers. Instead of logging you in or loading your library, the launcher breaks the connection and displays this error.

This issue often arises from custom DNS configurations, ISP routing problems, or outdated launcher builds. At times, temporary Epic Games service disruptions can also trigger it.

Now that the possible causes are clear, let’s go through some proven solutions to restore your Epic Games Launcher’s connectivity.

Before making changes on your system, verify if Epic is experiencing downtime.

If the servers are down, wait until Epic resolves the outage.

1. Update the Epic Games Launcher

If your Epic Games Launcher is outdated, it may rely on old service endpoints, such as legacy authentication protocols or files that are no longer supported by Epic’s systems. Updating the launcher ensures that you receive the latest patches, bug fixes, and service adjustments, which helps re-establish a stable connection.

  1. Close the launcher via Task Manager. End Epic process
  2. Restart the launcher and let it auto-update.
  3. To force an update, go to:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Epic Games\Launcher\Portal\Binaries\Win64 Right-click EpicGamesUpdaterRun as administrator. Run as Admin

2. Switch Networks (Mobile Hotspot / Alternate Wi-Fi)

Since this error is often caused by network routing problems from your ISP, connecting through a mobile hotspot or another network provides a new path to Epic Games’ servers.

This bypasses any problematic DNS routes or ISP restrictions, allowing the connection to go through. Once your session is connected and downloads are complete, you can safely switch back to your original network, as the connection to the servers will remain established.

  • Turn on a mobile hotspot and connect your PC.
  • If downloads succeed, the issue lies with your ISP.

After downloads complete, you can switch back to your main network without disconnecting from Epic.

3. Use a VPN

If an alternate network isn’t available, use a VPN.

  • A VPN bypasses blocked ISP routes by tunneling traffic.
  • Connect through a nearby region (avoid distant servers for better speed).
  • Once the launcher connects successfully, you can disable the VPN.

4. Flush and Reconfigure DNS

Flushing your DNS and switching to either automatic assignment or a public DNS (such as Google or Cloudflare) removes incorrect routes and restores connectivity.

  1. Open Command Prompt (Admin). Open CMD Admin
  2. Run these commands one by one:
ipconfig /flushdns ipconfig /release ipconfig /renew netsh int ip reset netsh winsock reset
  3. Restart your PC.

Switch to Public DNS:

  1. Go to Settings → Network & internet → Wi-Fi. Network Settings
  2. Select your connected network → Edit DNS server assignment. DNS Settings
  3. Choose: Google → 8.8.8.8 / 8.8.4.4 Cloudflare → 1.1.1.1 / 1.0.0.1 Manual DNS

If none of the above fixes work:

  1. Uninstall Epic Games Launcher.
  2. Delete leftover folders from C:\Program Files (x86)\Epic Games.
  3. Reinstall the latest version from the official website.
