How to Fix IS-IN-FC02-3 Error in Epic Games

The “A file corruption has occurred. Please try again. Error Code: IS-IN-FC02-3” appears when downloading or updating a game through the Epic Games Launcher. This error happens when game files or launcher components become corrupted or are missing, which prevents the game from installing or updating properly.

In some situations, the error may also be related to insufficient storage space. When you download a game, the launcher needs almost twice the game’s size in available disk space to extract and install all files. If your drive does not have enough free space, the installation process will fail and trigger this error.

Now that you know the reasons, let’s move on to the solutions that work best.

Before You Begin: Quick Checks

  • Free up disk space and retry. Epic flags FC02 errors when it cannot create or assemble files, and low space is a common trigger. Aim for at least 2x the game size free.
  • Temporarily pause antivirus if it is actively scanning the install folder, then restore protection after testing. If you use Microsoft Defender’s Controlled Folder Access, allow Epic and the game executable.

1. Run Epic Games Launcher as Administrator

Running the Epic Games Launcher with administrator rights ensures it has full access to your system. This allows it to read and write files correctly, access the registry, and communicate through the network and firewall. Without these permissions, the installation can fail.

To do this: Right-click the Epic Games Launcher shortcut and select Run as administrator. To make this permanent, go to Properties > Compatibility and check Run this program as an administrator.

Once done, restart the Epic Games Launcher and try installing or updating your game again.

2. Delete Webcache Folder

A corrupted cache folder is another common cause of this error. The webcache_4430 folder stores temporary data for the launcher. If this data becomes damaged, the launcher may not be able to update or install games.

Deleting this folder forces the launcher to rebuild a fresh cache, which usually fixes the issue.

  1. Press Win + R, type %localappdata%, and press Enter.
  2. Navigate to EpicGamesLauncher > Saved and rename or delete the webcache_4430 folder.
  3. Relaunch the Epic Games Launcher and try installing the game again to see if the issue is resolved.

3. Reinstall Epic Games Launcher and Game on Another Drive

If the drive where the launcher or game is installed is damaged, unstable, or experiencing disk errors, the installation can fail. Reinstalling the Epic Games Launcher and game on a different drive creates a clean environment with fresh files and greatly reduces the chance of corruption.

  1. Press Win + R  and type appwiz.cpl.
  2. Locate Epic Games Launcher and click Uninstall.
  3. Go to the official Epic Games download page.
  4. Install the launcher on a different drive.
  5. Log in to your account and re-download the game to confirm if the error is resolved.
