Avast Antivirus is a family of internet security applications developed by Avast Software for various platforms. It is one of the most popular antivirus software being ranked number one in 2017. Avast is a very effective and diligent antivirus as compared to other competitors. However, sometimes Avast blocks the access or the installation of some programs. To solve this problem, we can easily disable the antivirus temporarily. This can also be used when the antivirus is consuming a lot of disk/CPU usage.
- Right-click on the Avast icon present on your Windows taskbar at the bottom right side of the screen. This should bring up a number of options available (if you don’t see the Avast icon on your taskbar, click the small arrow. It will expand all the hidden applications from your taskbar.
- Click the option “Avast shields control” from the list of options available and select the duration for which you want to disable the antivirus. Do note that after the set duration, the antivirus will come back online automatically.
- A window will pop up asking you to confirm your actions. Press “Yes” to confirm. Avast will now be disabled and you can continue doing your task at hand.
Furthermore, if you are disabling the antivirus again and again for any game/application to run, you can permanently add that application to the whitelist. The items present in your whitelist get ignored by Avast and they can run freely without any interference from the antivirus. It is to be noted that you should always be careful and absolutely sure about the nature of the application when you are about to whitelist it.
Note: Please disable the antivirus at your own risk. This article is for information purposes only. Appuals will not be responsible for any damage done to your computer in case of being infected with malware/virus.
