Is Copilot AI Not Showing Up in Windows? Here’s What To Do

This issue typically occurs when Copilot Preview is not enabled in the taskbar settings. Additionally, an outdated Windows version or misconfigured registry entries related to Copilot can also contribute to the problem. If you are facing this issue, there are several methods gathered from public forums that you can follow to fix this issue.

Before we dive into the solutions, there are a few things that you need to take care of. First, you need to make sure that you are logged in with your Microsoft account, as Copilot is not available to local accounts. Additionally, we recommend you perform a system restart. This will restart the services and refresh the components that might resolve the issue.

1. Enable Copilot Using Taskbar Settings

If the Copilot option is disabled in your Taskbar settings, you won’t be able to see it. However, you can still access it using the shortcut keys (Win + C). Therefore, check the taskbar settings before proceeding to other methods.

1. Right-click the Taskbar and select Taskbar Settings.
2. If you see the Copilot feature, simply enable it to see the Copilot in the Taskbar.
   

2. Update Windows

You might have an outdated Windows version that does not include Copilot. If that’s the case, updating Windows to the latest version should resolve the issue.

1. Click the Start Menu, type Check for Updates, and hit Enter to navigate the settings.
   
2. Click Check for updates; if updates are found, download all of them.
   
3. Once done, restart your computer to install the updates.

3. Disconnect the Second Monitor

Some users found that using a dual monitor confuses Copilot, resulting in this issue. This might seem unusual, but if you have a dual monitor setup, it’s worth trying to disconnect the secondary monitor to see if this resolves the issue.

4. Modify the Registry Editor

You might have Copilot disabled from the registry editor. By modifying specific registry keys, you can re-enable Copilot.

Note: Please make a registry backup before following this method.

1. Press the Win + R keys to open up the Run Window.
2. Type regedit in the input box and click OK to navigate to the Registry Editor.
   
3. Navigate to the following path

   HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows

4. Create a key with the name WindowsCopilot if it doesn’t already exist.
5. Inside that key, create a DWORD (32-bit) value with the name TurnOffWindowsCopilot and set its value to 0. If you already have it, make sure its value is not set to 1. Otherwise, you won’t see Copilot in your Windows 11. 
   

5. Use ViveTool

If none of the solutions work, you can consider using the third-party utility called ViveTool. This utility allows users to enable hidden or experimental features on Windows 11.

1. Download the ViveTool Zip file from the link.
   
2. Once it is downloaded, extract the zip folder using an archive utility such as WinRar.
   
3. Once done, navigate to the extracted folder and copy the path of the folder from the address bar.
   
4. Now open the Command Prompt as an administrator by searching for it in the Start Menu.
   
5. Type cd and the copied path, then hit Enter to navigate.
   
6. Once you reach the ViveTool directory in the command prompt, enter the following commands one by one.

   vivetool /enable /id:44774629,44850061,44776738,42105254,41655236

   

7. Once done, exit the command prompt and restart your computer to enable Copilot. If you wish to disable Copilot, follow the same steps listed above but replace enable with disable in the last command.
