How to Fix COD ‘Memory Error 19 148’

Some Call of Duty Modern Warfare players are encountering the ‘Memory Error 19 148’ when playing certain maps. When this error occurs, the game restarts so the connection to the game server is lost. This problem is reported to occur on both PC and game consoles (Xbox One and PlayStation 4).

Method 1: Checking for a Server issue

Before you try any of the following fixes below, you should take a few minutes and investigate for an ongoing server issue that might cause this particular error code.

If you are currently seeing the Memory Error 19 174 with multiple multiplayer modes in COD Modern Warfare (not just with Ground War), chances are Activision is currently dealing with a widespread issue.

Method 2: Lower VRAM & Texture Settings (PC Only)

if this scenario is applicable, you should be able to fix this problem by enabling and enlarging the default Windows Pagefile.

If you don’t know how to do this by yourself, follow the instructions below:

1. Open up a Run dialog box by pressing Windows key + R. Next, type ‘sysdm.cpl’ inside the text box and press Enter to open up the System Properties screen.

   

2. Inside the System Properties screen, click on the Advanced tab from the list of options at the top, then click on Settings (associated with the Performance Options menu).
3. Inside the Performance Options menu, make your way to the Advanced tab again and click on the Change button associated with Virtual Memory.
4. Inside the Virtual Memory screen, uncheck the box associated with Automatically manage paging file size for all drivers (if the box is currently checked).
5. Next, make your way to the Custom size menu and boost the values of Initial Size and Maximum size. A good strategy is to make your page file size 4x times the amount of physical memory currently available in your PC.
6. Once the correct value has been established, click the Set button to adjust the value of the Paging file.
7. Finally, click on Apply to save the changes, then reboot your computer and wait for the next startup to complete.
8. After the next startup is complete, launch the game once again an see if the problem is now fixed.
