How to Fix “Your Game Failed to Launch” Error in EA App?
The error message “Your game failed to launch. An error on our end caused your launch to fail” appears when the EA App tried to execute the game’s file but failed during the launch stage before the game could initialize.
The most common cause of this error is the launcher not having administrator rights, which can result in permission issues. Other potential reasons include corrupted installation paths, conflicts with overlays, or interference from background services.
Now that you know what actually causes the problem, let’s try to resolve it.
1. Run EA App as Administrator
Windows may sometimes restrict necessary actions like writing to system folders, accessing protected files, or launching anti-cheat services, all of which are required for the game to run properly. By giving the EA App administrator privileges, you allow it to access protected directories, start anti-cheat services correctly, and launch required background services without being blocked.
- Open File Explorer and navigate to:
C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\EA Desktop\EA Desktop
- Locate EADesktop, right-click it, and select Properties.
- Go to the Compatibility tab.
- Check the box next to Run this program as an administrator.
- Click Apply and then OK.
- Try launching your game again.
2. Restart EA App and Background Services
This error can also appear if background processes remain active and block new sessions, or if temporary states become corrupted, interfering with license checks or anti-cheat initialization. Restarting the EA App and its related background services clears these processes and gives the launcher a fresh start.
- Open Task Manager by pressing Ctrl + Shift + Esc.
- Under the Processes tab, find:
EA (EADesktop.exe) EA Background Service
- Right-click each of them and select End task.
- After ending the tasks, relaunch the EA App and try launching the game again.
3. Disable the EA App In-Game Overlay
The EA App’s in-game overlay can sometimes conflict with other overlays such as Steam or Discord. It may also interfere with DirectX and GPU drivers during launch, causing the game to fail to initialize. Disabling the overlay eliminates these conflicts and often resolves launch issues.
- Open the EA app and click the three-line menu icon (☰) in the top-left corner.
- Select Settings.
- Go to the Application tab and scroll down.
- Locate the In-game overlay section and toggle it off.
- Restart the EA App and try launching your game again.
