How to Fix “A Ubisoft Service is Currently Unavailable” Issue?

The error “A Ubisoft service is currently unavailable” means that there is some kind of issue or failure in establishing a connection between Ubisoft’s servers and your computer. The most common causes of these errors are network configuration issues, incorrect time and date setting or interference from background applications.

Troubleshooting Prerequisites

Before going into more in-depth troubleshooting, you should try a few simpler things that may fix the issue you’re facing.

  • Restart your Computer: This refreshes system resources, resets network configurations and closes background processes that could be slowing or blocking access to Ubisoft’s servers.
  • Restart your Router: Doing so can clear out any temporary conflicts in IP allocation and network crowding, giving a new connection path to the Ubisoft servers.
  • Check Ubisoft Server Status: Check if Ubisoft’s servers are operational as server outages can cause this issue. You can check Ubisoft’s server status through DownDetector or Official Ubisoft’s social pages.

1. Disable Background Applications

Background applications, especially antivirus softwares, VPNs and firewalls can mess with Ubisoft’s online connectivity. These application may limit or block access, which can prevent Ubisoft from establishing a stable link with its servers. Disabling these applications for some time can allow the system to avoid restrictions or security layers that may be blocking Ubisoft’s services.

Disable Antivirus Software

  1. Open the Antivirus software you use if any.
  2. Look for an option to disable it, often labelled as Turn off protection or Disable.
  3. Select a duration, for instance 10 minutes.

Disable VPNs

  1. Open the VPN application you use.
  2. Use the toggle option to turn it off.

Disable Firewall Temporarily

  1. Open Control Panel by searching for it through the Windows search bar.
  2. Go to System and Security.
  3. Select Windows Defender Firewall.
  4. Click on Turn Windows Defender Firewall on or off from the left-pane.
  5. Select Turn off Windows Defender Firewall for both private and public network setting.

When done turning all these off, turn off all unnecessary background applications as well (such as browsers and Discord etc). Lastly, restart Ubisoft Connect to check if the issue has been resolved.

2. Flush DNS Cache

DNS cache is a local storage of IP addresses for recent website or services you’ve connected to, it is used to speed up access to the websites by avoiding repeated lookups. Overtime, this stored DNS can become outdated or corrupted and gathers up, which causes network connection errors. Hence, flushing the DNS cache removes any outdated or corrupted cache data, forcing your system to make new ones with updated information.

  1. Open Command Prompt by searching for it through the search bar.
  2. Type in the following command and press Enter:
    ipconfig /flushdns

  3. Once done, restart Ubisoft Connect and check if the issue persists.

3. Reset Network Settings

Network setting can also become outdated overtime, so this process restores all network related configurations, such as Wi-Fi settings, IP addresses and VPN configurations to their default state, hence clearing out any conflicting settings or misconfigurations that may be causing this error.

  1. Open Settings by pressing Windows + I keys.
  2. Go to Network & Internet.
  3. Select Status from the left-pane.
  4. Scroll down, locate Network reset and click on it.
  5. Click on the Reset now button and select Yes if prompted.
  6. Your computer will now automatically restart as a part of the reset process. Once restarted, reconnect to your Wi-Fi.
  7. Lastly, open Ubisoft Connect and check if the issue persists.

4. Adjust Date and Time Settings

Server synchronization and authentication depend on accurate timings to work, if the date and time settings on your computer are incorrect, it can lead to issues connecting with the Ubisoft’s services. Hence, adjusting the date and time settings of your computer can ensure that your device aligns with Ubisoft’s servers, which may help fix this issue.

  1. Open Settings by pressing Windowskeys.
  2. Go to Time & Language.
  3. Select Date & Time from the left-pane.
  4. Under the Current date and time section, toggle on Set the time automatically and Set the time zone automatically.
  5. If automatic settings are unavailable, click on Change under Set the date and time manually.
  6. Enter the current date and time and then click on Change to save.
  7. Open Ubisoft connect and check if the issue has been resolved.

5. Reinstall Ubisoft Connect

Once you have tried everything, you can try and reinstall Ubisoft Connect as a last resort, as overtime installation files can become outdated or corrupt due to incomplete updates, system crashes or conflicts with other softwares. So, by reinstalling you make sure that all the necessary files are correctly installed and up to date.

  1. Open Settings by pressing Windowskeys.
  2. Go to Apps.
  3. Select Apps & features from the left-pane.
