Fix: Ubisoft Error Code 17013 (Cannot Install or Launch Games)

The error Ubisoft Error Code 17013 prevents users from installing new games or launching Ubisoft Connect. This error typically occurs due to either insufficient disk space on the installation drive or missing administrator permissions required by the app.

It usually shows up on systems where the storage drive is nearly full or where Ubisoft Connect isn’t granted the necessary permissions to access system folders. Below are several effective methods to resolve this error and restore access to your games.

1. Make Sure You Have at Least 20–30 GB Free

  1. Open File Explorer and click on This PC.
  2. Check the storage bar under the drive where Ubisoft Connect or your game library is installed.
  3. If the drive is almost full, delete unused files or move large files to another location.

2. Run Ubisoft Connect as Administrator

Ubisoft Connect sometimes needs full system access to install or update games. Running it as an administrator ensures it can properly write to protected folders and perform necessary operations.

  1. Right-click the Ubisoft Connect icon on your Desktop.
  2. Select Run as administrator.
  3. Click Yes when prompted by the User Account Control (UAC).
  4. Log back into your Ubisoft account and check if the error is resolved.

3. Clear Ubisoft Connect Cache

A corrupted or outdated cache may cause Ubisoft Connect to misbehave by loading broken or outdated data. This can interfere with game downloads, sign-ins, or app stability. Clearing the cache removes old configuration files and allows the app to start fresh without affecting your installed games.

  1. Open File Explorer and navigate to:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher
  2. Locate the folder named cache.
  3. Right-click the folder and select Delete.
  4. Re-launch Ubisoft Connect and run it as administrator again.

4. Flush DNS and Reset Network Settings

In some cases, network misconfigurations can prevent Ubisoft Connect from reaching its servers. Flushing the DNS cache and resetting the network stack can fix hidden connectivity problems.

  1. Click Start, search for Command Prompt, right-click it, and select Run as administrator.
  2. Type the following and press Enter:
    ipconfig /flushdns
  3. Then type the following and press Enter:
    netsh winsock reset
  4. Restart your computer and launch Ubisoft Connect again.

5. Reinstall Ubisoft Connect (Keep Game Files)

If none of the above methods work, reinstalling Ubisoft Connect may resolve deeper issues with its configuration files. You can choose to retain your game files during reinstallation to avoid redownloading them.

  1. Go to SettingsAppsInstalled Apps.
  2. Find Ubisoft Connect, click the three dots next to it, and select Uninstall.
  3. During the uninstallation process, choose the option to Keep Game Files.
  4. Once uninstalled, visit Ubisoft’s official website and download the latest version of Ubisoft Connect.
