How to Fix TikTok Verification Code Not Received?
TikTok verification codes can fail even when the app still looks usable. Some users never receive the code, some receive it too late to use, and others keep getting sent to an old phone number or email they no longer control.

The issue usually sits in one specific path: the verification method TikTok is trying to use, the linked contact details on the account, or delivery problems on SMS/email. Reinstalling does not fix those by itself.
1. Switch to Another Verification Method Before You Keep Resending the Same Code
TikTok supports multiple verification paths, including phone, email, authenticator, and passkeys. If one route is failing, switching methods is usually faster than repeating the same request.
This is especially useful after reinstalling TikTok, signing in on a new device, or hitting 2-step verification on an unfamiliar login.
- On the login screen, tap Use phone/email/username and check whether TikTok offers Email, Phone, Authenticator, or a Passkey instead of the route that keeps failing.

If TikTok offers email, authenticator, or a passkey, that route is usually faster than resending the same failed SMS. - If SMS codes are not arriving, switch to email or authenticator if those are already linked. If a passkey is set up on your device, use that path instead.
- If you are still logged in on another device, open Settings and privacy > Security & permissions and confirm which phone number and email are currently linked.

An active session on another device can show which phone number, email, or passkey TikTok currently trusts.
If an alternate method works, update account security settings immediately so future logins do not fall back to the broken route.
2. Check Whether the Number or Email Can Still Be Used on This Account
TikTok allows one phone number and one email per account, and reuse after account deletion is not immediate. That can look like a delivery problem when it is actually an account-linking conflict.
- If you are changing phone or email, open Account > User Information and confirm the old linked method is still accessible before requesting a code for the new one.

TikTok uses the contact methods actually linked to the account, not the ones you assume are current. - If the number or email is tied to another TikTok account, unlink it there first, or wait until the 30-day deletion release window passes before trying to reuse it.
- If TikTok keeps sending codes to an old phone/email you cannot access, skip repeated change attempts and move to the recovery method in Method 5.
If the linked contact details are correct and still usable, continue with channel-specific delivery checks.
3. Break the SMS Retry Loop and Fix Carrier Delivery Issues
When TikTok is sending SMS codes, the bottleneck is usually on the mobile line path, not general internet connectivity.
If TikTok already shows a retry lock such as Too many attempts, clear that state first using this TikTok too many attempts guide.
- Stop resending repeatedly. Let the flow cool down before requesting a new code.
- Confirm the correct SIM/eSIM line is active, has signal, and matches the country code and number entered in TikTok.
- Disable SMS filtering or carrier spam filtering that can block short verification messages. If other services work but TikTok never arrives, ask your carrier whether short-code verification traffic is being filtered.

TikTok SMS can fail even when normal texting works if the carrier or phone is filtering short verification messages. - Request one fresh code and use only the newest message if delayed texts arrive in a batch.
If SMS starts arriving after line/filter corrections, keep that number linked and add email as backup.
4. Treat Missing Email Codes as a Mailbox Routing Problem
Email code failures usually come from mailbox filtering, delayed delivery, or old messages being used after newer requests.
- Search your mailbox for TikTok and check Spam, Junk, Promotions, Updates, and All Mail, not just Inbox.

Verification emails often land outside the main inbox, especially after repeated resend attempts. - If older codes appear late, ignore them and use only the newest code from your latest request.
- Remove mailbox rules/filters that may hide TikTok emails, then request one new code.
- If you can still access TikTok from another device but recovery emails never arrive, switch to password reset, authenticator, or another available verification path.
If SMS and email are both failing, use account recovery tools directly.
5. Use TikTok’s Recovery Tools When the Code Path Is Dead
If codes keep routing to old contact methods or no route completes verification, move to TikTok account recovery instead of repeating resend attempts.
- On the login screen, tap Use phone/email/username > Forgot password? and try reset with the linked phone/email you still control.
- If you cannot access linked contacts, open Recover your account, search by username/email/phone, tap Can’t access these?, then use Ask friends to verify (requires at least two friends).

TikTok supports friend verification when you cannot log in or reset the password through the normal code routes. - If recovery still fails and you can access TikTok on any device, go to Settings and privacy > Report a problem > Account and profile > Login, tap No under Is your problem resolved?, then choose Need more help?.
- After recovery, add both phone and email, then enable authenticator or passkey so future logins do not depend on one fragile route.
If TikTok keeps signing you out on the same device and repeatedly re-prompts verification, review this TikTok logging out guide after restoring account access.
Once one path works, update and clean old contact methods immediately. Most repeat lockouts happen because TikTok still trusts a phone number or email the user no longer checks.
