Fix: “Sync Failed” Error in Geometry Dash

The Sync Failed error in Geometry Dash usually means the game couldn’t complete the sync between your local save and the Geometry Dash servers. Most of the time, it’s caused by server load/outages, an unstable connection, stale account authentication, or a save package that’s too large to upload reliably.

Sometimes the issue is temporary (server-side). If you suddenly can’t browse levels, open profiles, or use any online features, the best “fix” is to retry later (and don’t spam Save/Load).

Quick Checks (Try These First)

  • Restart your device (PC/Android/iPhone/iPad) and relaunch Geometry Dash.
  • Confirm you’re logged in: open Settings → Account and make sure your account shows as signed in.

Important (Read This Before Using Load): In Geometry Dash, Load is not a “backup restore” for progress that was never uploaded. If this device has your newest progress, try Save first. Only use Load when you’re sure the cloud has what you want to pull down. While Load is commonly described as merging cloud + local data, conflicts can still produce unexpected results, so avoid using Load blindly when you’re not sure which device is newest.

1. Manually Save, Then Load (Same Account)

When syncing fails, the upload/download process can get stuck or fail mid-way. Running Save forces the game to upload your account save package to the server. Then using Load re-pulls the stored data and can re-establish a clean sync state (and apply it to the device). This often helps after incomplete shutdowns or interruptions.

  1. Open Geometry Dash on the device where your latest progress exists.
  2. From the Main Menu, tap the gear icon to open Settings.
  3. Go to the Account tab and tap Save.

  4. Wait until the save finishes (don’t exit the game mid-save).
  5. If you use a second device, open Geometry Dash there and log in to the same account.
  6. Go to Settings → Account → Load.

  7. Wait for the load to complete before closing the game.

Tip: Even on one device, doing Save first can fix a stuck sync. Only use Load if you actually need to pull cloud data onto that device.

2. Refresh Login

If your login session is stale (common after long periods without logging in, or after a password change), Save/Load can fail even with a good connection. Refresh Login forces the game to re-authenticate your account.

  1. Open Settings → Account.
  2. Tap More, then choose Refresh Login.
  3. Enter your username/password and confirm.
  4. After it refreshes, try Save again (then Load if needed).

If Refresh Login fails: move to Method 3, reset your password using the official account manager, then return and try Refresh Login again.

3. Re-login (Refresh Session) + Reset Password (If Needed)

A desynced session can block syncing. Logging out/in clears old session state. If that still doesn’t help, resetting your password can refresh authentication and fix stubborn sync failures.

  1. Open Geometry Dash and go to Settings → Account.
  2. Select Log Out.
  3. Restart the game (helps clear cached session state).
  4. Log back in with your username and password.
  5. If syncing still fails, open Manage Account (Account Manager website) from the in-game account settings and change/reset your password (or use Forgot Password?).
  6. After changing your password, return to the game and log in again using the new credentials.

  7. Try Settings → Account → Save again, then retry Load if needed.
