S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 Dev Build Leaked Ahead of Schedule as Russian Threats Materialize
It has been reported that the dev build of S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 has been leaked and the fingers point to only one direction.
If you aren’t aware, earlier this year, in March, some Russian hackers had threatened to leak stolen data from the game. They had a set list of demands, which were something like unbanning a particular individual from their Discord server, and some more serious, like the developer’s attitude towards a particular region.
You can read all of their demands here.
The hackers uploaded a statement where the build was leaked. Here’s what the Russian hackers had to say. The text was in Russian, so it had to be translated.

Now that the dev build is leaked, it seems as if the hacker has access to over 193GB of game files, however they aren’t playable yet. The files are encrypted and can’t be accessed by a normal user, but they have mentioned in their statement that the decrypted version will soon be available.
Here are some screenshots from the leaked build files.

As of now, we don’t know if the studio had complied with their demands or not, but one thing’s for sure, and that is that this would hurt the game in the long run. S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 is a highly anticipated game, and for that to suffer from something like this, will be a serious setback for the developers who’ve put in the effort.
Regardless, as of this writing, there hasn’t been any response from GSC. Let’s hope to see this matter resolved, and GSC pursue this legally. Till then, this is all we know for now, but rest assured that we will keep you updated as new information becomes available.
