Square Enix Plans Major Game Development Overhaul

Square Enix is gearing up for a major overhaul of its game development system in a bid to enhance the quality of its titles. The company’s President, Takashi Kiryu, disclosed this plan during a financial results briefing on February 5th.

Since assuming the presidency in June last year, Kiryu has been vocal about his intentions to revamp Square Enix’s development strategy. He aims to reduce reliance on outsourced projects and prioritize the creation of large-scale games in-house, all in the pursuit of elevating game quality and boosting profitability.

“We are reviewing from scratch what the organizational structure is to materialize the contents of the pipeline, and what is best,” stated Kiryu during a conference call held to discuss the company’s plans. While specifics of the new system are yet to be unveiled, Kiryu assured stakeholders that details would be disclosed by spring time.

Analysts present at the conference call revealed that the new system is expected to roll out in April, accompanied by the implementation of a novel quality-checking mechanism. This mechanism aims to assess the quality of games at an earlier stage in the development process, potentially streamlining production and ensuring higher standards across Square Enix’s portfolio.

The anticipated reforms are seen as a response to these challenges, signaling the company’s commitment to addressing feedback and enhancing its standing in the gaming market.

Fans and industry watchers are eagerly waiting for more information about Square Enix’s updated development setup. However, the company’s proactive efforts to enhance game quality show its commitment to providing engaging gaming experiences for players globally.
