Insomniac Unveils Limited Edition PS5 Console for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
Sony and Insomniac have just announced a limited edition PS5 bundle for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 at the San Diego Comic-Con. The bundle includes a custom PS5 console cover design, a matching DualSense wireless controller, and a voucher for a digital copy of the game.
Earlier this year, in May, we got our first look at the gameplay trailer for Spider-Man 2. We saw Peter wearing the black suit in all its glory, but the story behind it is still unknown. Still, this aspect has clearly been highlighted on the console itself.
Black and Red Design Symbolizes the Symbiote Takeover
As far as the design of the console itself is concerned, it is essentially a black PS5, with the Spider-Man logo at the bottom right corner, on a red background. The red background symbolizes Peter being overtaken by the black tendrils of the symbiote.
The back of the console features the iconic white Spider-Man icon from Insomniac’s Advanced Suit, but this time it’s on a completely black background. The DualSense controller also features a symbiote takeover design, with the black tendrils covering most of the controller.
A black PS5 is always cool, but to top if off with a Spider-Man theme is even more aesthetically pleasing. Here’s what Jacinda Chew, Insomniac’s Senior Art Director had to say regarding her inspiration behind the design:
The design was inspired by the in-game symbiote that’s taking over the console and controller, but you can still see some of the underlying red under the tendrils. This represents the various ways players will experience the symbiote takeover in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. It’s a constant push and pull for dominance whether it’s internal or external and the outcome is not certain.”

This limited edition bundle will be available will be available at select retailers starting September 1, after the game’s official release on October 20.
New Trailer Reveals Harry Osborn to be Venom in Spider-Man 2
At the Comic-Con, Insomniac has also released a story trailer for the game, this time revealing that Harry Osborn will, in fact be the host of Venom in the game.
In the first game, we saw how Harry was suffering from a rare disease that took the life of his mother. His father, Norman tried to cure him with a treatment involving the Venom symbiote. However, the symbiote ended up bonding with Harry instead, turning him into Venom.
In addition to all this, the trailer also revealed that the symbiote will be voiced by Tony Todd, who is best known for his role as the Candyman in the 90’s horror film series. This is all we know for now, but rest assured that we will keep you updated as new information becomes available.
