The Future of Handheld Gaming? A Deep Dive Into Nintendo Switch 2 Massive Leak
There have been many rumors regarding the successor to the Nintendo Switch; however, a recent leak has disclosed the specifications as well as the performance metrics of the highly anticipated portable device.
An unnamed 4chan member leaked the information. You might not believe it comes from a reliable source, but this same person has previously revealed information about Pokémon Violet DLC that turned out to be true. Although the post has now been removed, key information about it was compiled as mentioned below via (Pocket Gamer):
- Codenamed “Hawk”/”HWK” – Devkit codename is “HTW”
- Some small gimmicks alongside the Switch’s hybrid features
- Performance is comparable to the PS4
- 7″ 1080p OLED screen
- DLSS support
- 4K at 30FPS seems doable
- 16GB of RAM, 2GB intended for the OS. Games are targeting 10GB
- Cartridges will be a little wider than the Switch’s. Height and depth are unchanged or very similar.
- Expected to launch in the second half of 2023
The details posted by the leaker are some of the new speculations on the upcoming Switch 2. Previously, a reputable leaker @OreXda hinted that we’ll see what’s likely a Nintendo Switch 2 come with an NVIDIA Tegra chip built on Samsung’s 4-nanometer process node. Nothing yet has been confirmed but I believe Nintendo will opt for the NVIDIA route.
Given the demand we’ve seen for similar features on the PS5 and Xbox Series X, it’s safe to assume that the Switch will feature backward compatibility, allowing earlier Switch titles to operate on updated hardware with the promise of better speed and graphics.
The source states that the second part of 2023 is when the Nintendo Switch 2 is anticipated to go on sale. This is all merely speculation, though, as no formal information has yet been disclosed hence we advise you take this this information with a pinch of salt.
