How to Fix Network Issues After Windows 11 24H2 Update?

There have been numerous reports about network issues following the Windows 11 24H2 update. For some users, this problem arose immediately after the update, but that’s not always the case. Various causes could be at play, like corrupted DNS records, outdated network drivers, improperly configured registry settings, and DHCP issues.

1. Configure WinHttpAutoProxySvc from the Registry Editor

Although the WinHttpAutoProxySvc relates to proxy settings, it is critical for ensuring network connectivity. Setting the Start value to 3 allows this service to run when necessary. Many users have found that configuring this service helps resolve their network issues.

1. Open the Run dialog by pressing Win + R.
2. Type regedit and press Enter to launch the Registry Editor.
   
3. Navigate to:

   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\WinHttpAutoProxySvc

4. Find the entry named Start on the right panel, double-click it, and change its value to 3.
5. Click OK, close the Registry Editor, and restart your computer.
   
6. After restarting, check if the problem is resolved.

2. Flush DNS

The IP and cached details may become outdated or corrupted after the Windows 11 24H2 update, which could disrupt your internet connection. Flushing DNS clears outdated domain records and IP information, allowing your system to retrieve fresh data for network services.

1. Click the Start Menu and type Command Prompt.
2. Right-click Command Prompt and select Run as administrator.
   
3. In the Command Prompt, enter the following command:

   ipconfig /flushdns

   

4. Once completed, see if your issue is resolved.

3. Update Network Drivers

Outdated network drivers may not be compatible with Windows 11 24H2. To prevent network issues, ensure your network drivers are updated.

1. Press the Win key and type Device Manager.
2. Press Enter to open Device Manager.
   
3. Expand Network Adapters and right-click your Network Adapter.
4. Select Update driver and follow the on-screen instructions.
   
5. If no driver is found, right-click the network adapter again, select Update driver, choose Browse my computer for drivers, then Let me pick from a list of available drivers, and install the compatible driver.
