How to Fix Instagram Trial Reels Option Not Showing?

When the Trial toggle is missing while preparing a new Instagram Reel, the rest of the composer may still appear complete. The problem is usually limited to the publishing screen, the local Instagram app, one device or account, or an account-level feature restriction.

Instagram places the Trial control in the publishing flow for a new Reel. Turning it on sends the Reel to non-followers first. The same control is not available while viewing an existing Reel, editing a profile, or using Instagram’s desktop website.

1. Check the Final Share Screen of a New Mobile Reel

Before changing account settings or reinstalling Instagram, confirm that you are checking the correct screen. The Trial toggle appears before a new Reel is published, not after it has already been shared.

An existing Reel or profile screen will not show the Trial control because it belongs to the pre-publish flow.
  1. Open the Instagram mobile app, start a new Reel, and add a short test clip.
  2. Continue through the editor until you reach the final Share screen.

Continue to the final Share screen before checking for the Trial toggle.
  3. Look for Trial before publishing the Reel.

If the Reel editor itself is broken or you cannot reach the Share screen, follow this broader Instagram Reels troubleshooting guide first.

If Trial appears on the fresh Reel, the earlier check was made on the wrong screen. If the Reel reaches the final mobile Share screen but the toggle remains absent, refresh Instagram next.

Account-type note: Instagram has made Trial Reels broadly available, so switching to a Creator account or making a profile public is not a general requirement. If the toggle disappeared immediately after an account-type or privacy change, note that timing for the later support report, but do not change those settings solely to restore it.

2. Refresh Instagram and Reinstall It Once

An outdated Instagram build or stale app session can load an incomplete Reel composer. Updating and restarting the app refreshes its local interface before you investigate an account-specific problem.

Use only the official Instagram app during this test. Unofficial builds, VPNs, proxies, or region changes can make the later account-versus-device comparison less reliable.

  1. Install any available Instagram update from the phone’s official app store.
  2. Force close Instagram, restart the phone, and inspect the final Share screen of another fresh Reel.
  3. If the toggle is still absent, reinstall Instagram once from the official store, sign back in, and repeat the fresh-Reel test.

If Instagram is unstable beyond the missing Trial option, use this broader Instagram app troubleshooting guide.

If Trial returns, the old installation or app session caused the problem. If a clean installation still does not show it, compare the same account on another phone.

3. Compare the Same Account Across Devices

A cross-device comparison reveals whether the missing toggle follows the Instagram account or remains limited to one phone. Keep both phones on the current official Instagram version so the comparison is consistent.

  1. Sign into the same Instagram account on another updated phone and open the final Share screen of a fresh Reel.
The same Instagram account being tested on another phone to determine whether the Trial Reels toggle follows the account.
If the same account lacks Trial Reels on both phones, the problem is more likely tied to that account.
  2. If possible, sign into another Instagram account on the original phone and inspect a fresh Reel using the same app version.

If the same account lacks Trial on both phones while another account shows it on the original phone, the problem follows the account. If multiple accounts fail only on the original phone, it follows that device. Keep this comparison result for the technical report in the next section.

4. Check Account Status and Report the Missing Toggle

When the problem follows one account, Account Status can reveal whether Instagram has restricted a feature. A clean status, combined with the earlier tests, points more strongly to an account- or device-specific interface fault.

  1. Open Profile > Menu, select Account Status, and review Features you can’t use.
Instagram Account Status and reporting screens used to check restrictions and report a missing Trial Reels toggle.
Account Status can reveal a feature restriction; if it is clean, use Report a Problem to send Instagram the test results.
  2. If a restriction appears, use the available review or appeal option before testing Trial Reels again.
  3. If Account Status is clean, open Profile > Menu > Help > Report a Problem.
  4. Explain that Trial is missing from the final mobile Share screen of a fresh Reel. Include the phone model, Instagram version, account type, screenshots, and the cross-device comparison results.

If Account Status lists a restriction, complete its review or appeal process first. If the status is clean and the toggle remains missing for one account or device, keep the issue in Instagram’s technical-report process.

If the Trial Toggle Is Still Missing

After a clean reinstall, a cross-device comparison, and an Account Status check, further account-type changes or repeated reinstalls are unlikely to help. Keep Instagram updated and test with a fresh mobile Reel after a future app update or response to the technical report.
