How Long Can an Instagram Reel Be?
Instagram Reels is a dynamic feature that allows users to create and share short-form content, quickly paving the way to becoming an Instagram influencer. Launched by Instagram in 2020 as a response to TikTok’s success, Reels have evolved with improved algorithms and editing features, like stickers and music.
In today’s fast-paced world, people prefer short, engaging content due to limited attention spans. Instagram Reels tap into this trend, offering influencers and marketers a powerful tool for exposure. With quick sharing options, content that resonates with a large audience can go viral, while Instagram provides monetization opportunities, unlike TikTok.
How Long Can an Instagram Reel Be?
When Reels were released in 2020, their length was capped at 15 seconds. However, Instagram soon realized that this was insufficient and expanded the limit over time. As of February 2024, Instagram Reels can be up to 90 seconds long. For most creators, this duration suffices to create meaningful content.
This doesn’t mean you can’t upload a reel longer than 90 seconds. If you attempt to upload a 130-second video as a reel, Instagram will automatically cut it off at the 90-second mark without warning. So, always keep your reels within this limit.
