3. Update Graphics Driver

An outdated graphics driver can cause issues while running games. Updating the graphics driver to the latest version will delete the corrupted files and install the latest files with no bugs, which can help in fixing the issue.

  1. Visit your graphics card manufacturer’s website: NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel, and download the latest drivers for your graphics card.
  2. Once downloaded, follow the installation instructions provided by the manufacturer.

4. Verify Integrity of Game Files

It might be possible that the game files are corrupted, which causes problems while running the game properly. Verifying the game files will scan and fix any corrupted game files that can cause trouble while loading into the game.

  1. Open Steam and navigate to the Library tab.
  2. In the library, find Homeworld 3. Right-click on the game title and select Properties from the context menu.
  3. In the Properties window, go to the Local Files tab. Then, click on Verify Integrity of Game Files.

5. Reinstall Graphics Driver using DDU

You can also use Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to clean up the graphics driver. This will help reinstall display drivers that might cause problems due to corrupted driver files.

  1. Visit the DDU download page in your browser.
  2. Choose a download location for the tool, and then download it.
  3. When the file has downloaded, right-click on it and choose Extract All > Extract.
  4. Double-click on DDU.exe and then select Extract.
  5. Reboot your computer into Safe Mode.
  6. While in Safe Mode, launch the DDU (exe file) and configure your settings.
  7. From the dialog, choose your GPU manufacturer on the right side and then click on Clean and restart.
  8. After the computer restarts, you should no longer encounter the issue.

6. Allow Through Firewall

Firewall can block the game and stop it from running. Allowing the game through the firewall will allow the game to run without the interruption of Windows Firewall.

  1. Search for “Allow an app through Windows Firewall” in the Windows search bar and open the result.
  2. Click on the Change settings button to enable modifications to the allowed apps list.
  3. Select Allow another app… to add a new application to the list.
  4. Click on the “Browse…” button and find the homeworld3.exe file in the game’s installation folder.
