HEVC is a video compression codec, also known as H. 265. It is the most uncommon file extension used by users. There is a chance that the video file you are trying to play has an HEVC format and if your media player does not support HEVC then the media file will not play and it throws the error.

To fix this you have to download the HEVC Video extension.

Follow the steps to download HEVC Extension:-

  1. Download Hevc Video Extension from here.
  2. Make sure to download Hevc according to your Windows version 32 or 64 bit.

Outdated codecs are generally causing a 0xc10100be error, to fix this you have to update or download the latest codecs by following the below steps:-

  1. Go to the link to download the k-lite codec pack from here.
  2. Scroll to the downloaded section, and click on server 1 to start the download process of the k-lite codec pack.

We will use the VLC Media converter to convert files into a compatible format, here is how you can do this:-

  1. Open VLC Media Player or download VLC Media Player from here.
  2. Now click on the Media button on the top nav and select Convert/Save.

To fix this, you have to scan your computer with the Windows defender or your trusted antivirus software.

Here is how you can do this:-

  1. Press the Windows + I keys together to launch the settings.
  2. Navigate to Update & Security then click on Windows Security which is in the left sidebar.

  1. Open VLC Media Player, click on the Tools button then select Preference.
    Click on Preference to navigate into the settings
  2. Click on the Input / Codecs on the top, and you should see the Damaged or Incomplete AV1 file option on the bottom.
  3. By default Ask for action is selected, click on the arrow down icon and change it to Always fix.
