The Dragon Range Ryzen 9 7845HX 12-Core CPU is Faster Than the Desktop i7-13700K
The AMD Ryzen 7000 mobile leaks have started to pour in. Firstly, we saw the RDNA3-based Radeon 780M in action. Then today, the Ryzen 9 7940HS and the 780M (once again) were put to the test. Similarly, the Dragon Range (Ryzen 7045) based Ryzen 9 7845HX has been benchmarked in PassMark. Initial results put this CPU on par with the i7-13700K.
Ryzen 9 7845HX
Ryzen 7000 family is divided into 5 segments, where Dragon Range is the highest-end offering. Dragon Range CPUs (Ryzen 7045), boast up to 16 cores / 32 threads and feature a multi-chiplet design which a first for the mobile market. Consider them as repurposed desktop Zen4 silicon.
Across a wide variety of laptop chips, the Ryzen 9 7845HX is now officially the fastest mobile CPU. Though, this spot will be usurped once the Dragon Range flagship, the Ryzen 9 7945HX gets benchmarked. Similarly, Intel’s 13th gen mobile offerings are still yet to be tested.
The Ryzen 9 7845HX scores 46791 points, making it 31% faster than the i9-12900HX. Similarly, it is a whopping 90% faster than the Ryzen 9 6900HX, which is really impressive.
When compared against desktop and server CPUs, the 7845HX still does not disappoint. In fact, it is slightly faster than Intel’s desktop i7-13700KF. Better yet, even the i9-12900KS fails to reach the performance levels of this CPU. Dragon Range is incredibly promising and something you should consider if you plan on purchasing a high-end laptop this year.
