How to Cast Pinterest to Your TV – 4 Easy Methods
Pinterest does not currently offer a dedicated Smart TV app, which can be a roadblock if you wish to enjoy its content on a larger screen. However, there’s a workaround – screen mirroring. This article will walk you through the process of mirroring Pinterest from your device to your Smart TV.
Things to Keep in Mind Before Starting
It is important to note that Pinterest is available as an app for both Android an iOS. It is also accessible for PC via the website. Before starting off, make sure to log in and set up your account. If you don’t know how to do so, you can check out their guide.
At the moment, Pinterest isn’t available on any major streaming devices, so our best bet is to use screen mirroring. With most devices now running Android 5.0 or later, it’s likely that your device will have built-in support for screen mirroring.
Almost all Smart TVs support mirroring, but still, if you’re not sure, the easiest way to find out is to follow the steps below and see if your TV appears as a casting device. Keep in mind that your TV and device should be connected to the same network.
1. Mirroring Pinterest from Android to Google TV (Android 5+)
- Swipe down from the top of your screen to open the notification shade.
- Look for the ‘Screen Cast‘ option.
- If it’s not visible in your Quick Settings menu, tap the pencil icon (for Pixel and OnePlus devices) or the ‘Edit Buttons‘ setting (for Samsung devices) to customize your settings. Then from the inactive options, drag it to your main Quick Settings menu.
- Tap the ‘Screen Cast’ button. A window will appear listing available devices for casting.
- Select the TV you want to cast Pinterest onto.
- Your phone’s screen will now start casting itself to your TV.
- Open the Pinterest app on your phone. You can now browse Pinterest on your TV screen.
Alternatively, if you have Google TV, you can also use the Google Home app to cast your phone’s screen to your TV. Google has a handy guide for this that you can check out to learn more.
2. Mirroring Pinterest to Other Smart TVs
For TVs other than the Google TV, the procedure is mostly similar, with a few changes to the names. For instance, if you’re using a Samsung phone, swiping down from the top wouldn’t show a Screen Cast option, rather there will be a button for ‘Smart View,” that essentially does the same thing.
For phones other than Pixel, OnePlus, or Samsung, look for options labeled ‘Cast‘, ‘Screen Cast‘, or something similar for mirroring. For iPhone or iPad users, you can use AirPlay. Just swipe down from the top right corner to open the Control Center, tap ‘Screen Mirroring‘, and select your Smart TV.
Some users turn to third-party apps on the Play Store for screen mirroring. However, many of these aren’t free and unnecessarily request your personal information. Furthermore, they often come with limitations like restricted mirroring time and reduced frame rate, compromising the viewing experience.
3. Mirroring Pinterest via PC
If, for instance, you use a PC to browse Pinterest instead of a mobile, then the above methods may not work for you, however the basic idea is the same. We have a dedicated guide on this, but here are the general steps:
- Ensure your PC and your smart TV are connected to the same wireless network.
- On your PC, press the Windows key + P to bring up the Project menu.
- Click on ‘Connect to a wireless display‘.
- The system will scan your wireless network for smart devices compatible with screen mirroring. Select your Smart TV from the list.
- Wait for your PC screen to be mirrored on your TV. Depending on your TV model, you might need to authorize the connection on your TV.
- To disable it, press the Windows key + P again and click ‘Disconnect‘.
Remember, this process relies on the presence of Miracast technology in both the PC and the Smart TV, and may not work for all users. For a more detailed guide, including alternatives for PCs without Miracast support, refer to our comprehensive article on the topic.
4. Casting Pinterest if Your TV Doesn’t Support Mirroring
If your TV doesn’t have built-in mirroring capabilities, using an external streaming device is your only solution.
Most TVs support the app Miracast by default, but if in your case, your device lacks Miracast support, it’s best to get a streaming box. With these, you can turn any TV into a smart TV easily, using devices like Chromecast, Fire, Roku, and Apple TV.
If you’re having trouble getting Miracast to work, for example, and you have it installed, check out our detailed guide to help resolve the issue.
Once you have everything set up on your new device, simply follow the steps above, and you’ll be good to go.
