Fix: Xbox Error Code 0x8027025A

Xbox Error Code 0x8027025A causes apps or games to fail to load or take too long to start. This error means the app couldn’t start in time due to a technical issue. Common reasons include Xbox Live service problems, damaged app data, or sign-in issues with your profile.

Other factors like not enough storage, outdated system software, or unstable network connections can also cause the problem.

In this article, we will discuss different ways to solve this error.

1. Check to See if Xbox Live Core Services are Down

Before troubleshooting, make sure the problem isn’t from Microsoft’s side. Xbox Live Core Services handle game launches and profile sign-ins. If these services are down, apps and games won’t load correctly. Checking the service status can save time by showing if the issue is external and if you need to wait for Microsoft to fix it.

  1. Click here.
  2. Check the status of Xbox Live Core Services.

2. Try Starting the Affected App Again

Sometimes, restarting the affected app can fix temporary glitches or loading delays caused by minor system issues. This step makes the console reload the app’s data, which can solve any temporary problems that stopped it from launching.

  1. Press the Xbox button on your controller to open the guide and select Home.
  2. Highlight the tile for the affected app, and with it highlighted, press the Menu button.
  3. Select Quit.

Once the Xbox One app in question has been completely closed, wait for 10 seconds and then try starting it again to see if it loads successfully.

3. Hard Reset your Xbox One console and its Cache

Clearing temporary bugs and refreshing system resources can fix the error, so a hard reset of your Xbox One and its cache is helpful. This process removes bad data, resets running tasks, and ensures apps and games load smoothly without leftover system problems.

  1. Press and hold the Xbox button on your Xbox One console for 10 seconds until it shuts down.
  2. Unplug the power supply from your console.
  3. Wait for approximately 3 minutes.
  4. Plug the power supply back into your console.
  5. Press the Xbox button on your Xbox One console to turn it on.

4. Uninstall the Affected App and Install it on your External HDD

Moving the app to an external hard drive can help avoid issues with the internal storage, like corrupted data or slow performance. By uninstalling the app from the internal drive and reinstalling it on an external drive, you get a fresh start and avoid storage-related problems that might have caused the issue.

      Hello,
We recognize that you are frustrated with this problem. There are a few additional suggestions which might fix your connection.
      1. Use a hotspot connection from your mobile and check to see if that solves the issue
      2. If the connection does solve the issue then you can contact your ISP and request for a Static IP. If you cannot do that it is recommended to reset your internet router to its basic defaults. Also, check to see if your DNS settings for the Xbox are correctly entered.

I was having this problem. Getting a timeout when trying to sign in or even get into the settings menu. It ended up being a bad external HDD. Try unplugging any USB and see what happens. As soon as I pulled the USB drive everything started working instantly. As soon as I plug it back in, everything goes back to crap. On the plus side, now I have a low profile 128GB USB stick that I can mess with my friends with. Pop it in their xbox when they aren’t looking and then watch the fun.

I have tried everything, all that comes up on my screen is “for some reason Xbox assist has taken too long to start” – that’s when I click the “help” button. This has randomly happened over night, I was on Netflix all fine & when I turned on my Xbox this morning it just stopped out the blue

Xbox just started acting funny. Getting this error message for EVERYTHING. Can’t sign on, can’t access Insider Hub to report problems, can’t get to settings, everything’s takes too long and gives me the same response. All I did was turn it off for a few hours, I usually have it on. Would keeping it on most of the time cause this?

Same for me – Started about 2 weeks ago, and even a hard reset doesn’t fix it. Worried it might be my external HDD, but have moved games from Internal to external and vice versa and made no difference. Hoping it is a bug that will be fixed.

I am having all of the issues…the Xbox was working fine this morning then after dinner stopped. It let’s me sign on, but after that it’s a mess…its super slow and delayed…every game I try to go into gives me the “for some reason …took too long to start”error…its not letting me go into my setting as that keeps giving off an error as well. I put a blu ray in to see if I could at least watch a movie and that doesn’t work either. I have hard reset, unplugged and plugged it back in, switched to an ethernet connection, tried the mobile hot spot, signed off and signed back in…but nothing is working. It has also shut itself off twice since this all started. Please help!

Shane Warren Author Apr 26, 2020

Maybe your hard drive is failing. Best to get it in for service but now a days that might be difficult too due to the lockdown. Can you hear the HDD making any weird sounds when it starts up? Since you have already done a hard reset, there isn’t much troubleshooting to be done except maybe trying to connect it to the mobile’s hotspot to clear out any issue with the network.

Try to turn off automatic updates for games and check if any game is currently installing an update. If that doesn’t work, go for a hard reset.

I just tried that and it didn’t work. We followed previous advice about holding on/off button for 15 seconds and then taking out the power cord, this worked at first, a game loaded and my sons played it for a few minutes, but once they came out of the game and went back in, it would not load and message came back up? We have tried factory reset, deleted all games etc and nothing has fixed it, except holding power button etc and then it lasted only a few minutes

Hey There, Sorry to hear that you are facing this issue with Rainbow Six Siege. However, there is one thing you can try but if that doesn’t work you will have to completely uninstall the game and download it again. So try Power cycling the console by holding the power button on it for 10 seconds until it shuts down. Check if that fixed the problem for you if it doesn’t you will have to reinstall the game completely.

Ok, So it seems like your Xbox system files or game files have been corrupted you can’t fix that manually however According to users, You can fix this problem by resetting your whole Console to factory default settings. Before resetting your console keep in mind that this process will delete all your files and games, So if you want to make a back up do that first once you are done with your backup and everything you can do the followings to reset your console:-1. Open Settings and go to All Settings.
      2. Select System.
      3. Go to Console info and updates.
      4. Select Reset console. Now you should see two options on your screen “Reset and remove everything” and “Reset and keep my games & apps.” What I suggest you do is try the “Reset and keep my games & apps” option first if that doesn’t help you or fix your problem unfortunately you have to remove everything and start fresh by using the “Reset and remove everything” option.

Have you tried Power-Cycling (Hard Restart) your Xbox? If you haven’t tried it try this:1. Turn off your console by pressing the Xbox button on the front of the console for about 10 seconds, until it shuts down completely.

        4. Press the Xbox button on your console to turn it on.If that doesn’t fix the problem for you I am afraid that you have to reset your Xbox to factory defaults.

Unfortunately, this issue is known as Black Screen of death on Xbox there are some workarounds you can do that can potentially fix this issue but if those workarounds don’t fix this problem for you, you might have to get your Xbox repaired. So the first thing that we can try is power cycling the Xbox follow these steps:-1. Turn off your console by pressing the Xbox button on the front of the console for about 10 seconds, until it shuts down completely.
      2. Unplug the console’s power cable. Wait 10 seconds. …
