Valve’s VR Headset Is Reportedly Being Built in the U.S. to Dodge Tariffs

A new report has stated that Valve’s unreleased VR headset is being manufactured inside the U.S., potentially to avoid import taxes.

Valve’s Deckard Is Expected to Be Released By the End of 2025; Currently In Initial Stages of Mass Production

The headset, codenamed “Deckard” has been making headlines for quite some time now, with a leak now mentioning that the headset may be in the initial stages of manufacturing. In a tweet, SadlyItsBradley, who is famous for his takes on VR, and has accurately reported on various Meta headsets before, has stated that Valve is importing machinery to manufacture Deckard in the U.S.

The equipment is seemingly being supplied by Teleray Group, which includes machinery for modified injection moulding, and facial interfaces. Terelay has previously manufactured gaskets, the foam that sits around your eyes, for the Valve Index, and the HP G2 Omnicept.

With the industry moving to a standalone VR concept, Deckard will follow suit. Some previous rumours have confirmed this, citing that the headset may come at a price of around $1,200.

As of now, there has been no official confirmation, but several insiders have stated that the Valve Index 2, or “Project Deckard” will be released in the last quarter of 2025. Since there has been no official confirmation, take this news with a grain of salt.

This is all we know for now, but rest assured that we will keep you updated as new information becomes available.
