Fix: uBlock Origin “No Longer Supported” in Chrome
If you suddenly start seeing ads again and notice that uBlock Origin is turned off in Chrome, it usually means Chrome has marked it as “no longer supported” and disabled it automatically.

In most cases, this happens because Chrome is retiring Manifest V2 (MV2) extensions and moving to Manifest V3 (MV3). The full uBlock Origin relies on MV2 features, so newer Chrome builds may disable it (and may not let you re-enable it permanently).
1. Install uBlock Origin Lite
If you want to stay on Chrome, the most stable option is uBlock Origin Lite (MV3-compatible). Because it’s built for MV3, it won’t be disabled just for being MV2.
- Open uBlock Origin Lite on the Chrome Web Store:
uBlock Origin Lite (Chrome Web Store). - Click Add to Chrome to install it.

- Go to chrome://extensions/ and make sure uBlock Origin Lite is enabled.
2. Switch to Firefox
If you want the full uBlock Origin (strongest feature set and control), switching to Firefox is the most consistent fix because uBlock Origin remains fully supported there.
- Download and install Firefox:
Download Firefox. - Open Firefox, go to the add-ons store, and search for uBlock Origin.
- Install it and keep it enabled from the extensions/add-ons menu.
3 Manually Install uBlock Origin From the Official GitHub Release
If the Web Store version is unavailable/disabled, you can try installing the official Chromium build as an unpacked extension. It won’t auto-update, and it may still stop working if your Chrome build removes MV2 entirely.
Step 1: Download and Extract
- Open the official uBlock Origin releases page:
uBlock Origin (GitHub Releases). - Download the Chromium zip from the latest release (usually uBlock0_<version>.chromium.zip). Do not download “Source code (zip)”.
- Extract the zip to a folder you will keep permanently.
Step 2: Load Unpacked
- In Chrome, go to chrome://extensions/.

- Enable Developer mode.

- Click Load unpacked.

- Select the extracted uBlock Origin folder (the folder that contains manifest.json).
