How to Take a Screenshot on Samsung Galaxy A8

In this guide we’ll be explaining how to take a screenshot on the Samsung Galaxy A8. This guide is very simple to follow and once you’ve learned you’ll never forget. Like most Android smartphones, the Samsung Galaxy A8 comes with a built-in screenshot function so you will not need any additional apps or tools to take screenshots with the phone.

Step 1 – Taking the Screenshot

To take a screenshot on the Samsung Galaxy A8, you must hold down a combination of physical keys and hold them until the screen shows that a screenshot has been taken.

  • First, visit the app, website or area on your device that you’d like to take a screenshot of.
  • Next hold down the Volume Down and Power buttons at the same time.
  • Hold down the Volume Down and Power buttons until you see a screenshot animation.
  • If you have sound turned on you’ll also hear a camera shutter sound.
  • A notification will appear in your notification bar to confirm a screenshot has been taken.

If you’re unsure what buttons to press, refer to the image shown below. This image has highlighted the Volume Down and Power button on the Samsung Galaxy A8. That’s it! It’s as simple as that!

Step 2 – Locating your Screenshots

If you would like to view your screenshot, you can either swipe down from the notifications menu and tap on the screenshot notification, or you can find the screenshot within the gallery app.

To find the screenshots within the gallery app, first head to your app drawer and open the gallery app. Next, locate the ‘screenshots’ folder. If you can’t find the screenshots folder, it may be within the ‘pictures’ folder, which can also be found within the gallery app.

Step 3 – Another Method for Taking Screenshots

If you would like another method for taking screenshots, you can set up a gesture within the settings menu. This gesture is exclusive to TouchWiz handsets and whilst it is disabled by default, you can activate it on your Samsung Galaxy A8 fairly easily.

  • To begin with, head to the settings menu.
  • Next, tap the Motion option within settings.
  • Now tap the Hand Motion option.
  • Check the ‘Palm Swipe to Capture’ option.

Your screenshot gesture will now be set up. To take a screenshot, stretch your hand out over your phone as if you were to be giving somebody a handshake. Rest your hand on your phone, with your pinky finger pressing against the display. Now, simply swipe from left to right and the screenshot will be taken.

Just like with the hardware key option, using Palm Swipe to Capture will make an animation appear, a shutter sound will play and a notification will pop up on your notification bar.

That’s it! Now that you have followed this guide, you should feel confident about taking screenshots on your Galaxy A8 at a moment’s notice. Keep in mind that the first method takes a few seconds of holding buttons before the screenshot is taken. You may want to hold down the button a little early if you’re anticipating content on your display that you’d like to screenshot.
