AMD Confirms Specifications For The Navi3X Lineup
AMD’s RDNA3 Graphics Cards based on the Navi31 chip will retail next month. Similarly, AMD has seemingly confirmed the specifications for the mid-lower end Navi32 and Navi33 GPUs. The specifications we have today are in-line with what Angstronomics leaked a while back in the largest RDNA3 leak till date.
Navi 3X Specifications
Over at Github, an update for the AMD ROCm software has a few lines of code that highlight the core counts for the Navi3X GPUs. Without getting into the technicalities of the code, Navi31, AMD’s flagship RDNA3 GPU features a 96CU count. This translates to 6144 SPs (Stream Processors) or 12288 FP32 Units.
Now, the actual leak is the specs for Navi32 and Navi33. Sadly, there is no mention of a possible Navi34 or a Navi30. Either way, Navi32 based on an MCM design is packed with 60 CUs which equates to 3840 SPs or 7680 FP32 Units. The Monolithic Navi31 features 32 CUs or 2048 SPs (4096 FP32 Units). AMD’s RDNA3 microarchitecture has a dual-issue SIMD design. Despite being able to pump out 2x FP32 instructions, this does not equate to 2x more FP32 Units.
What Has Changed?
Couresy of today’s leak, it appears that Angstronomics was right on target with the initial specifications.
Navi 31
- gfx1100 (Plum Bonito)
- Chiplet – 1x GCD + 6x MCD (0-hi or 1-hi)
- 48 WGP (96 legacy CUs, 12288 ALUs)
- 6 Shader Engines / 12 Shader Arrays
- Infinity Cache 96MB (0-hi), 192MB (1-hi)
- 384-bit GDDR6
- GCD on TSMC N5, ~308 mm²
- MCD on TSMC N6, ~37.5 mm²
The Navi31 GPU is almost similar to what Angstronomics predicted. The only exceptions are the expected inclusion of PCIe Gen 5 support and memory speed.
Navi 32
- gfx1101 (Wheat Nas)
- Chiplet – 1x GCD + 4x MCD (0-hi)
- 30 WGP (60 legacy CUs, 7680 ALUs)
- 3 Shader Engines / 6 Shader Arrays
- Infinity Cache 64MB (0-hi)
- 256-bit GDDR6
- GCD on TSMC N5, ~200 mm²
- MCD on TSMC N6, ~37.5 mm²
Navi 33
- gfx1102 (Hotpink Bonefish)
- Monolithic
- 16 WGP (32 legacy CUs, 4096 ALUs)
- 2 Shader Engines / 4 Shader Arrays
- Infinity Cache 32MB
- 128-bit GDDR6
- TSMC N6, ~203 mm²
When Should We Expect Navi32?
AMD has the upper hand in the GPU market right now. If team red plays its cards correctly, it may take the market by storm and increase its GPU share exponentially. CES 2023 is when Intel plans to launch the Raptor Lake Mobile SKUs. NVIDIA is aiming to introduce the RTX 4070 Ti / RTX 4070. As for AMD, they are expected to launch the Zen4-X3D variants along with their Navi32 GPU lineup. Currently, Navi32 is planned for the 7800XT, but plans may change.
