These files will also be expanded before they are transferred over the internet so there will also be no significant increase in bandwidth (it may even make it a tab slower!).

- Computers which have a faster processing unit but slower disk I/O operations (think of it this way, the compressed file will be able to load to main memory more quickly and can easily be decompressed there instead of transferring the entire file to the memory at once).

How to Enable NTFS Compression?
After you have decided whether to use the NTFS compression, you can go ahead and compress the files and folders accordingly. Make sure that you are logged in as an administrator on your computer.
- Press Windows + E to launch the File Explorer and navigate to the directory where the file is present.
- Once in the required directory, right-click on the file/folder and click on Properties.
- Once in the properties, click on Advanced right next to the attributes.
- Now, check the option compress contents to save disk space. This will be present under the heading of Compress or Encrypt attributes.
- Make sure that you apply the changes to all the sub-folders as well.
- Now, after the compression is complete, you can easily check the new space by opening the properties again.
