Leaked Radeon RX 7800 16GB TimeSpy Score Shows 17% Improvement Over Last Generation’s RX 6800
Just yesterday, we covered MLID’s leaks claiming that AMD plans to unveil the remaining RDNA3 SKUs sometime in August. These upcoming GPUs include the Radeon RX 7800 16GB and the RX 7700 12GB. Today, hardware leaker All_The_Watts has shared a leaked TimeSpy benchmark of the aforementioned RX 7800 16GB.
Radeon RX 7800 16GB Leaked Benchmark
The benchmark, while being brief does showcase a lot of performance details regarding AMD’s yet-to-launch offering. The Radeon RX 7800 16GB manages to attain 18,957 points in the GPU test which is almost on par with the RX 6800 XT.
Using gpu-monkey’s database, we can get a closer look at the relative performance of the RX 7800. The GPU lies somewhere between the RTX 3080 and the RTX 3080 Ti. When compared to its last-gen equivalent, we see an increase of around 17%. This uplift, while not being impressive does put the RX 7800 almost neck to neck against the RX 6800 XT.
Expected Specifications
The RX 7800 will reportedly make use of the full-fat Navi32 chip with 60 CUs. Furthermore, we see 16GB (19.5Gbps) of GDDR6 memory, which over a 256-bit bus sums up to 624GB/s of effective bandwidth. The rated TDP stands at approximately 260W, which is almost similar to its predecessor. So, in synthetic applications, we can expect a roughly ~15% increase in overall efficiency.
The real-world performance will vary a lot and can change depending on the drivers. AMD is expected to price this GPU at around $549 but that is mere speculation. In any case, the RX 7800 will be a perfect choice at this price point as it clearly outperforms the more expensive RTX 4070.
